I hear you loud and clear. I would prefer an overlooking house away from subdivisions. Subdivision conjours up images of unfinished houses, overgrown bushes in undeveloped lots. It's not my ideal situation, but I am still hoping Dumaguete has a nice, upscale subdivision. Maybe not, seeing that you are using ghetto humour to refer to Dumaguete subdivisions. This is indeed discouraging.

Hehe, dont be discouraged... I call ALL places surounded by high walls like that, no matter if in Dumaguete, Makati or Cebu or anywhere else.
I don't go to a country to the other end of the worl to life like at home...
My little octagon shaped house is in the Jungle close to the ocean, I have no single Long-nose in the neighborhood and I don't lock my doors, as 2/3 are cheap glass doors anyway. everybody can see what is inside... shocking enough for the naighbors as I walk around naked many times... hehe

But thats why I am here to life in the Philippines with Philippinos... with all the brownouts and the moskitos... but with great people and all other benefits surrounding me directely. Smiling kids playing around my house, Fishermen passing by to offer me the freshest catch (way cheaper than on the real good Dumaguete market). If I have a flat tire, my neighbor is fixing it. We long-noses are still guests in this country, so we have to respect the locals and live with them and joyn their way of life too.

    cheers

    Rhoody

Just a short reaction on "Everybody can see what happens inside "
WEll ,same as you I prefer to be dressed like ADAM.. BUT ! the guy before us spend some "quality time " here with some girls from the O, why not .. and the neighbors LOVED to look through the selfmade peepholes..
Now they all believe we ( that is my wife and I) also do our " thing " in the front garden or the laundry area , the kitchentable ( though it crossed my mind ...) the large glass slide doors and the stair going upstairs which give the best "result "for the viewers..
Hmm. I guess that is why everybody here now thinks I am a dull guy not into s.. ( don,t know if Dane allows me to put the whole word here..
Anyway Rhoody ,ever thought of opening your own PEEP SHOW ?? It is less noisey then Kareoke and likely will bring in more money hehehehe. Beside we are form Europe and have somewhat other " features " to offer as well.:D

BTW: the Why not Hunting girls are boring, like my divers reporting me, compared to Sabang

hehe, this brought you another good reputation, I really like this tool on this forum , sad enough that not many are using it...

but anyway, I was (and sometimes am) a quite grumpy typical german, as I reached the second half of my life I decided that I gotta change something in my life. I wanna see happy people around me and can help to create a small happy world around me...

ok, but back to the main topic of this thread, why the f... it is called BROWNout... when I have no power and there it is cloudy it is so BLACK out there where I live that you can't see the hand infront of your eyes...

    grumpy german Prost (cheers)

I'm with Rhoody oin thisIf you want to live like you do at home the do us all a favour and stay there (at home).
I live locally in a modest two bedroom apartment
it costs me 7000 a month and i couldn't be happier.
    Its usually quiet
I have views of the mountain and feels verfy rural but still only 10 mins intoi town
If I wanted to spend 40,000 on a big place with other idenbtical buildings around me and all western standards the n wI would stay in england

A very nice couple near us here in Perth are currently and likely successfully negotiating a house purchase with my wife's cousin in the same expatriate 'prison' we'll be living in north of Bacolod...just a couple blocks away from us. The wife is Filipina, the husband is Filipino...both nurses here in Oz...should they stay home? Both are from Negros by the way...and they'll be joining quite a friendly, mostly Filipino, with a large group of expatriates in their isolated 'prison'...LOL...

I'm not going there to pretend I'm one of the 'hood...LOL..bit hard to pretend when you live about ten to twenty times better....no one is buying it except you...sorry...anyway I'll be there for the diving, the exploring, the central base for the rest of SEA and beyond. I could handle life in town, or the beach, easy enough...spent a year and a half in the jungle in a tent...but it's actually my wife who doesn't want the hassles (or potential hassles) and I think she knows better than I do...or you do...

Write me back in 5 years and tell me how how you're going...statistically you'll be at the airport...exit only...I'll be diving wrecks off Palawan...or at the gym...or swimming laps...or hiking in the mountains...or off to Thailand wondering where the environment went...
