New member living in the New Hampshire seacoast. Still about 5 years from retirement at mid 50s but doing advance planning. I was in the PH last year and ruled out Manila (no surprises) and Boracay (yuck). Have been hearing great things about Dumaguete so will plan a trip over there soon. I'm Fil-Am (Filipino dad, American mom). Grew up first 10 years in Makati. Rest of it in California, Michigan, New York, Adelaide, Toronto and now New Hampshire.. avid motorcyclist (Moto Guzzi) and scooterist (Vespa 300) so having fun roads that aren't too crowded to explore are key (I'd be crazy to be on 2 wheels in Manila!)
Welcome to the forum. The Philippines is the wrong country for that. Can't drive 15 minutes at highway speed on any road in the country without seeing a town or getting behind a bus stopping every kilometer.
I agree with Wrye, even 25+KM's out of the City the roads are crowded into the late night! Amazes me when I see something like a Ford Mustang here (I am a BIG Car Nut!) as I am sure they would be lucky to get out of first gear for the most of their journey! Welcome aboard, I hope you achieve what it is you are wanting to do.
