    Quarantine those at risk.
Making the cure worse than the disease as we certainly have done, has done more harm than good.

The state of calamity extension only means that the national government is authorized to continue supporting COVID19 costs with extra federal money, including checkpoints, additional money for police and military and even help with the costs of distributing and administrating vaccines if they ever have one. It has no relation to continuing lockdowns, only to help support them if they are called. They are just extending this for 1 year in case the money is needed.

Another lockdown, prior to the next lockdown. I feel like China must be super happy.

UK is heading towards another possible full lockdown. Already large areas of the North of England having stricter measures imposed.

I respect the right of everyone to make personal decisions based on their own risk analysis - with the caveat that it respects the law and the interests of the planet (in which I include the environment and all living things). I know you follow the rules about masks and don't want the elderly near you (!), so I can see why you and people like @eskirvin (who look so young - bonus points please!) feel non-threatened and dislike to see the economy wrecked (as do all of us actually).

But I cannot grasp why you call those who are elderly "scared" - it negates the fact they have simply done their own risk analysis (as you have) and want to be 'cautious'.

Although a 'masker' I always held the position that it is 'horses for courses' and very local and personal decisions should be made in the case of a pandemic - there is no 'one glove fits all'. So, I support the use of PPE but do not support many of the rules, some extremely pointless, which have helped damage economies. But in no way am I "scared" of the virus - I am more scared of you!

No, I get it. I don't interact or come in close contact with the elderly, gimp and/or sick. I avoid them like they are the plague. If I have been less than a meter from one it is because THEY have broken the social distancing rules and guidelines out of THEIR own ignorance/incompetence/complacency/disregard for their own wellbeing...so if they don't care about their own wellbeing then I certainly am not going to give a crap for them, that is their choice. I wash my hands regularly, social distance and wear a mask when in public. These people at risk are the ones that should be staying home and not coming in contact with anyone. The rest of us have basically zero chance of dying from this. Do I want anyone to die from this? No, of course not. What you seem to suggest is that all these at risk people should be free to go about their lives while the rest of us productive people put our lives on hold. That's not how it has ever been for any other disease and it should not be how it is for this one. Your disability, your problem.

I don't care what my country has or has not done. I don't care what Trump has or has not done. However you giving such a precise death toll on something that didn't happen is 100% speculative. You can't know what would have happened with that level of accuracy. There is no telling what other events would have happened if something in the past was changed. It's a pointless metric. We can look at all kinds of things with hindsight and see what could have been done better. I can't wait to see what hindsight will show us in another year or two.

Its deadly because it is so easily spread and a lot of people, just like you, do not comprehend that you as an infected person can infect another who can be very ill from this, perhaps be in hospital and perhaps die. I'm not scared of dying. I'm over 80 and just want to be around a little longer to enjoy the presence of my 9 year old daughter thank you very much. And as for figures, think about this. Comparing my country, Australia to yours, the USA, had Trump followed the use of masks and social distancing utilised in Australia, the death toll in the USA would be around 10,745, not 201,000 as is at present. (Figures used Australian population 25,000,000, USA 326,000,000, Corona deaths, Australia as of yesterday 16th Sep, 824, the USA, 201,266. 824/25 million X 326 million) That is a lot of dead USA citizens that could now be enjoying their families.

Could...but unlikely. Over a 99% chance he wouldn't. I know you are scared but you, and many others, are seriously overstating how deadly this virus is.

Now it's your turn, go ahead and tell me the death count numbers and tell me how I don't care for human life.
