After more than one year, I was brave enough to put my feet again into a place at the boulevard, where I had some "not so good" expierience before.

    Happy Freds

Brave and prepared for everything I passed through the entrance and sat alone on a table. The place looked different then on my last visit, and for whatever reason I felt somehow welcome right away. The waitress brought me one of the coldest SMB i ever had in Dumaguete:D and the music was a good mix of 70's to 90's. 10 Minutes later Terry the owner invited me to sit outside on the table with some other guys and I had a great fun time.
As it started raining a bit I was there some hours and it was not boring at all.
The interieur has a nice pub-athmosphere. There are also some fun drinking-challanges you can master... As I was there with my bike, I had to pass on that. In other places I was sitting for hours alone, here I was 10 minutes and hand a shake-hand with everybody... Terry is a fun guy with a good sense of humor and his heart on his tongue. As he is quite direct, maybe not everybodys case, but exactly the way what works for me...
For that music, real pub-feeling and fun I had, I am ok with paying some peso more for one of the coldest beer in town. A place to check out when you are around here...

    cheers

    New owner ?

Is Terry the new owner or is it still the same owner ?
I only have been there once and it could not please me very much.

Some weeks ago I was sitting for a cup of coffee at the Happy Fred's at the airport. Is that also from the same Terry from the boulevard ?
I won't take a drink there at the airport anymore.
Maybe we were on the 'wrong' time there (quite early) but the place was dirty and smelling like a toilet (not yet cleaned !).
We did drink our coffee and left again after 5 minutes to look for another shop.

    addition

To make it more specific: the one time I visited Happy Fred at the boulevard was 20 months ago !! (so, no reference for the situation now). I will surely check again after reading Rhoody's positive new experience.

    HI Jelly,

due to my bad expierience I was there yesterday after 16 month again, to make it a bit more specific, what I saw iand felt is that the place changed its spirit. Terry is the owner since 7 years, and I had a long chat with him, I think it is a difference if he is around or not. He is for sure not everybodys case. They are now opened 19 hours a day or so. half of the day it's more or less a "family" place for everybody, from 5 on more and more expats (not the kuripod Annabell seat-warmers) dropping in, and between 2 and 5 in the morning the locals coming, when the other hang-outs are closing.
    cheers

As Terry always sneaks on the board to read through the posts, he called me after reading Jelly's post and told me that the Airport Problems are solved... There was a water-problem what probably caused the bad smell.
He also put up a sign that any inconvenience should be mentioned right away.
This was some weeks ago. I just had the chance now to check it. there was no smell and it was clean.
At the end I think it is great that DumagueteInfo members can mention something and it got recognized and solved. Thanks for that...

    Happy Fred's...

I've been to the Happy Fred's on the Boulevard and met Terry, a nice guy from London, where I currently reside. I've always been made to feel welcome there, even when Terry was not around. have also been to the Happy Fred's in Bacolod, though I ust have gone on a quiet night.

Is the Happy Fred's at the airport open at night, or just daytime to catch arrivals/departures?
