I don't mean, "What do you miss ABOUT your home area," I mean, what would you like to be able to buy that doesn't seem to be available here. Certain foods? Your favorite brand of beer? Favorite tools or gadgets? One friend is always on the look out for better vegetable seeds. Good car parts (e.g. shock absorbers) are often sought after.

I'd like to be able to buy old fashioned, single edge razor blades! Can't find 'em. Tillamook Cheddar Cheese? Oh, yeah.
Walmart 1% hydrocortisone cream and larger containers of shaving cream. Sure. Good rye or pumpernickel bread. LARGE, VINE RIPE SLICING TOMATOES. (I gag every time I look at those tiny green things they call tomatoes here.)

    I could go on........................lol

All I miss is Walmart! Tillimook cheese of various flavors can sometimes be found at Rustans Ayala in Cebu. Love that Pepper Jack!

Ground turkey meat, sour cream, Hellmann's Mayonnaise and I agree 100% about the tomatoes -- I miss BIG, juicy, red tomatoes!

    Oh, and Tivo!!!

Sour cream is easy to make. put one cup Nestle cream in the blender, blend until fluffy. Add two tablspoons vinegar (can partially substitute calamansi), blender will change tone. Add salt, pepper, and a dash of cumin/cilantro to taste. Refrigerate for several hours for best results.

Nice tomatoes are grown in Bagiuo and Canla-on, but they don't come to Dumaguete. Can be gotten in Cebu.

I used to think what I missed was something to do such as the Mall of America as their is a large variety of stuff there, theater plays, comedian shows, and so forth. Funny thing I realized is I very rarely every went in the US as is.

Now I realize what I miss most being FOOD. I miss good meats, large selection of good cheese like Muenster cheese and deli meats, hamburger helper meals, nice big dill pickles, fresh jalapeno's, nice lettuce and other produce.

I'd be happy however with a place that had a good selection of deli meats and cheese's. The kinds I like they still don't have anywhere hear like smoked turkey/cajun turkey, Muenster Cheese or a nice baby swiss.

diesel engines that blow black soot all over you. Busses and ez rides that pull half off the road leaving just enough on the road to completely screw up traffic. zero customer service. the philippines has been left with a "brain drain' as anyone with brains has all went abroad for proper work and pay. the ones left here, well.....we get that level of service and help.

Seems like you missed the spirit of this thread. Your generalized statement is a put down to some members of this forum, our wives and girlfriends, some good folks we do business with here, and elevates yourself to the pompous and arrogant level. If your feeling are that negative, why don't you change to OnYourWay.

wasn't meant as a put down to you or anyone in particular. "Brain Drain" is not a term made up by me. It's a social issue in the Philippines that's addressed in many Philippine newspaper articles and the term is indeed "brain drain'. Have a look and read a few:

brain drain in the philippines - Hanapin sa Google

Wasn't meant to offend you or anyone.
