Being totally against this kind of "sport" I hope you won't find them here.
But I know from experience (I see them here practicing that noble "sport") that that is only wishful thinking.
I eat my fish bought at the market place and even don't take anything from the environment I do so much love for my diving.
But I know.......we are not all the same :p

We call speargun "pana" here but I have never seen any store selling this. I think our local guys who use "pana" are using home-made spears.

You can buy them here! The problem is where will you use them as most of the coastline are sanctuary's.Probably most dive shops would not rent you a tank if they know you are spearfishing. Technically by Filipino law if you are caught spearfishing while using Self Contained Underwater Breathing Appuratus (Scuba) all equipment may be confiscated

Jellyfish, I presume that killing a fish you will or intend to eat is acceptable ?
In which case it is not sport for the fun of it, Am I right ?
    regards .....JB

The fish I eat is killed, so I do accept that. But no need for me as a DIVER to kill a fish.
I am only there to watch the beautiful things and creatures and don't want to kill any of that.
Of course I know that what I do eat has been killed, but that's for those fisherman's existence.
Some call this hypocritical, but let them think so.
A good acquaintance once asked me to record him on my underwater video camera while spearfishing as scuba-diver. I told him even not to dive with him when doing that.
I have my principles as a visitor to the underwater world.
But again, I don't turn my back to spear fishers and keep talking with them :D
I know that another forum member (I regard him as a friend) does spearfishing as his big passion.
I don't support that, but at least he does not sell the fishes he kills but consumes them himself.
I saw those trophy pictures with the biggest fish speared ......
You can guess I think what goes on in my mind then
I teached divers to respect all they see and not to damage that environment.
In the club I was instructor for many years you were expelled as member if you practised that "nobel" sport.
    Question of principles indeed.

That's fair comment Jellyfish,I respect your principles.

I don't agree with killing of any creature for the sake of it.

There's a lot of things I'd like to see stop or change but I don't infect everyone's threads with my views of a perfect world.
