Hi, Can anyone tell me the name and location of the gun shop in Dumaguete. From my recollection it is around the corner of San Juan and Cervantes. It is a proper Gun store, not a h/ware shop selling guns. There may of course be others specialising in firearms that I have not heard of. Thanks for any forth coming info. Cheers.

The one I know for sure is opposite the National Bookstore: Shooters (nice name for a gunshop isn't it  ?)

there is one beside KarKris electronics shop along pinili st...
there is one called TopGun just across the highway off Jolibee..
there is one near Cangs called TwinPines
and Shooters Guns and Ammo near silliman, in front of National Bookstore..

i dont think expats are allowed to possess guns legally. i am not sure though. u can check with the gun store.

better yet, get in touch with the Dumaguete Shootist Association...im sure they can answer your questions.

the corner of san juan and cervantes is a shoe repair shop and a restaurant on the opposite corner. perhaps u r referring to SEARS, in front of noreco which is already closed...it is about 50 yards from the corner you are referring sir.

Thanks for the info Culumbinus, its not for me actually but a friend of mine who is moving there. It is up to him to find out the legalities. I do my shooting when I am there with a camera :D. I will pass the info onto my friend, he's Filipino born anyway. As for me? well I think I can look after myself without a gun. I would not go to the Phil. if safety was an issue. Thanks again. Cheers.

Fyi, I just bought a pistol at Shooters and a carry-on license. The pistol and license must be registered in my fiance's name and I cannot carry it, except in self-defense (I consider when I leave my house I am walking point and locked and loaded, although I do not feel threatened here). Shooters process the license at their Manila location, takes about 3 weeks. You can buy local guns, U.S., German, etc. there, choosing from their catalog.

What about ammo? I've seen a lot of VERY questionable "new"(??) ammo being sold here.

Good question. I haven't been to the range yet. For a .22 pistol, they sell both the short round and the large round. I imagine there are people on this forum with more experience.

WOW. I did not know there were gun stores in the Philippines. Now I am wondering is this something new? From what i have been told for so many years is that no one could own a gun in the PI legally. Of course i knew that those with money get anything they want.

I wish I could send my Springfield XD .40 cal sub compact to PI and have it register there. Just got it a few months ago with a conceal carry permit. Was easy to get the permit as I am a federal LEO and took only a week. Ordered the gun and walked out the door with it once I shot a few rounds in the range.

    Philippines Gun Law

Only a Philippines citizen over 21 can apply for a license to own or carry firearms in the Philippines. So I cannot "own" or carry a firearm but my wife can. Reminds me of an old saying I learned in the day, "This is my rifle, this is my gun, this for fighting, this is for fun". Semper Fi
