No wonder are they slow when they pic every person and are also taking everyone's fingerprint.

Hey Doc, I said earlier, "...At least in the states, airport immigration (JFK-nyc) has 5 officers (2 min each) and 25 AI robot kiosks for returning US citizens.." The officer takes a PIC AND FINGERPRINT ALSO at JFK within those two minutes. The robot kiosk does most of the work, asking questions, scanning the passport. The officer's job apparently is to make sure that the passport / fingerprint / pic all match the person going thru the line.

Immigration screening; a perfect application of advanced AI.

There are good applications for AI and bad, and I doubt any one is "perfect."

But PLEASE DON'T get me started on AI <grin>. I'm 75 and a card carrying member of C3S3 (Cynical Critical Cranky Skeptical Senile Senior). If I did, we'd get thrown into the Rants & Raves, otherwise known as "Controversial Subjects"...

Of course, by “perfect”, only a non-literal interpretation is intended lol. Apologies for introducing what you think is a controversial subject; I am from the ITE industry and never considered that extremely efficient use of existing databases could be some sort of conspiracy theory. It is not true that the prime directive of a flip-flop is to destroy al organic life forms. What are you, a USA Democrat?

DJF: Since this thread seems to be marginally connected to AI and computer efficiency, I'll keep it here. I'm not worried about conspiracies, the movie script of robots taking over the world is highly doubtful.. But like Apple's AI or "algorithm" that discriminates against females in providing credit limits (today's news), I sometimes doubt the "efficiency" or "accuracy" of AI. And, yes, although I think of myself as a "libtard," I'm more of an "independent," certainly not a trumper...

Yes, someone brought up AI at immigration. Well, my post was intended to be fairly lighthearted and I will not get much more into AI because it is already here, in full swing, and nothing can put the genie back into the bottle. In the case of Apple, you have a situation where the AI “learned” an alleged relationship between credit worthiness and the female gender by analyzing raw data, probably making an incorrect conclusion, but AI does not (yet) engage in identity politics. This effect of AI to discard such notions is anecdotal and it drives the PC classes crazy. The obvious solution will be to teach the AI that certain PC principles remain sacrosanct. And as for your being a self-described “libtard”, I would respond that self depreciation is healthy thing. But for the purposes of remaining active in this forum it is highly recommended that we avoid USA politics and never invoke the “T” word.
