Right, and why do you think there is such a huge difference between those two examples? Enforcement? Different socioeconomic and cultural norms? Education standards? Social nets/programs? Government corruption and competence?

Just FYI I'm not for banning firearms in the US. I don't thin gun ownership is the real issue. Remove every gun from the problem areas and they will still be problem areas.

In the UK it is very difficult if not impossible for a member of the public to have a legal firearm, some time ago there was a rise in knife crime so the police had a crackdown on people caught carrying knives, the next step for people who wanted to hurt someone was to throw acid at them.
Luckily enough I have never been stabbed or covered in acid but if there was a choice I think I would go for the knife.
We have also had terrorism attacks using hired vans driven into pedestrian areas.
I think that people who want to harm others will always find a way no matter how many things are banned, even after every sharp / heavy object that could be used as a weapon is unavailable then it is still possible to kill with bare hands and feet.

Yeah, but it is much harder to kill someone when deadly weapons aren't available. I'd be curious to see the before and after per capita murder rates of a country that has successfully implemented a firearm ban (meaning that it is no longer common for citizens to have access to firearms where it once was).

Prior to going to UK last July 2018 I recalled reading a page about gun ban and crime rates. Had to research to find it and of coarse it is only a stat page so may not bare full weight factually. Had an amazing time there BTW. Only odd moment was at speakers corner while I was photographing a little brawl broke out. Stayed near BaysWater tube station arcoss from Hyde Park.

The shooter in Santa Clarita only had a 45 with 6 rounds ... imagine what damage he could have done with AR15 and 60 rounds... good argument for Assault Weapon ban

The now defunct U.S. assault weapons ban was effective, according to statistics during and after.

Useless post, but I gotta say it. Welcome to the future United States, the only first world country with armed guards and metal detectors at every school, mall, and movie theatre (government bldgs and jewelry stores already have them), because the voters are too stupid to enact any form of reasonable gun control...
just sayin (also a stupid phrase)... I feel safer here in the Philippines at age 75, although sometimes I fear that a corrupt politician is going to send a two man motorcycle after me cuz I rant and rave too much...

Good point, so perhaps being unidentifiable on forums is a wise thing to consider.

In my case 'notmyrealname' is actually not my real name - even though it is correct! And the picture, although reasonably accurate, is not exact enough to be identified by. I am hoping that a gorilla does not get one in the head because of me.

And I see that in your case you have set up your dog!
