So, was it the case that your registration was not current? As far as I know you can have temporary plates but still have a current registration and I don't think they would they give you a ticket in that case? Or, do they just stop you if you have temporary plates and check to see if your registration is current? How would it be possible to have a new car and not have current registration, the dealer should provide you with that before you drive away.

Registration of a new vehicle takes many months.

The way I believe it works for an automobile is as follows: 1. Basic requirement is to be legally registered to current date. 2. Primary proof of registration is registration receipt (OR). 3. Officially made metal license plates are often not available, nor or they required during a stop, due to well-known problem; govt ran out of money to make them. 4. For convenience and perhaps to avoid being pulled over (and if that is not the purpose to buy them I don’t know what is) there are shops that will make unofficial plates that have no legal purpose but do it anyway because everyone else does. 5. If stopped at checkpoint, they should accept copy of OR as in 2. above. 6. For new car, a full service dealership will provide you will complete registration in your name but they will not give you metal plates due to issue in 3..They will give you cardboard or plastic plates which may physically not last long so it is good to have more permanent plates made at a roadside shop. Dealership should notify you when they receive your plates 2-3 years later.
The government does not expect you to have metal plates if it is the government’s fault that you do not have them. They do expect you to have paid up registration as shown on OR. For an auto, a copy is ok. For a motorcycle, my understanding is that the original OR is required during a stop.

Who stopped her?? An LTO check point?? Highway Patrol?? PNP or who?? I would not pay anything if the registration is ok, if no registration on a new car that is the dealers problem. We all know what the law says but even the LTO know it is unenforceable.

Yes, the formal registration document takes months to receive, but the dealer should provide you with a valid Temporary Registration before you drive off.

Used to be, you’re allowed to park along the National Highway (St. Paul’s Uni) as long as it’s only for five minutes. Now you can’t, not even for a bleeding minute.

Must be a new rule. I was doing the five minute thing just about a month ago.

I am not criticizing your observation as I don't know if you agree with the rule or not BUT I do agree with the rule - if say 96 vehicles each park for 5 minutes per day then the National Highway is obstructed for 8 hours in total. It is human nature to look at situations from a personal perspective but we need to examine them from a wider, more societal viewpoint.

It was more of a heads up for those who thought the same as I did. Saves you a visit to the City Hall.

I got a parking ticket. Went to the office and paid it. Met a wonderful group of people. Well worth the P200 for the ticket. Ya'll have a nice day.
