Hi all, I've seen somewhere a posting which I now cannot find, about a snorkelling site by Dauin. I recall it said that it was equivalent to Apo Island with regard to its buty and shallow waters. Can anyone tell me the exact location and how to get there? Very grateful for any info.

it is the Dauin Sanctuary. When you pass the market driving south just after it you can find a yellowish rusty sign on the left side of the street, telling Dauin Sanctuary poplacion 1 (or something like that) just follow the way down to the beach. There is a small nipa hut to the left and a "collectors-house" to the right. you need to pay 50 peso snorkling fee. The sanctuary in front of that 10 meters into the water. While Apo has more softcorals the Dauin Santuary is more hardcorals. starting from 0.5 meters to about 8 meters.

You will find plenty of typical reef-fish including parrot-, butterfly-and angelfish, Trumpetfish, Batfish and and and... a awesome snorkel-site.

    cheers

Many thanks Rhoody for the very helpful info.
I'll be smearing suntan lotion next week, leaving behind the cold weather for a short while. We might even meet one day!
    Cheers mate.
