currently globe is pushing their new Gomo Sims with 30gb data for 300 pesos which supposedly does not, as usually the case, expire at the end of the month after activation. Pretty good deal unless they manage to overload their network with this kind of bargain. But maybe they really somehow managed to add some significant bandwidth to their backbones.

Thanks for the rating CharlieB, although there was more than a hint of irony in my post.

    I don't know.
This is a great deal for those who use their mobile device for data only. Many people in the province only use FB messenger for all of their communications.

We have noticed some changes with Globe lately. People in the province who do not use WiFi still have free access to FB messenger via mobile data. But those who are regularly connected to WiFi do not have have free access to FB messenger via mobile data when they are off of WiFi.

Interesting that this deal showed up about the same time the WiFi users started getting cut off from free FB via mobile data.

110 Mbps download 175 Mbps upload...using PLDT. Server is temporarily connected to Net City, Bohol. There’s 2 PLDT
lines...one is 5G and the other is basic 100 Mbps fiber. It seems I can connect to any server in the Philippines that leases fiber lines from PLDT.
Seldom use the ROKU PLDT, have not watched cable for a very long time. Its streaming...with Apple TV. Have to change the DSN settings on the PLDT router.

Anyone know where I can buy a router with a VPN?

I'm certainly seeing fast PLDT speeds locally, but... most of what I access isn't local (surprise).

speedtest to Cebu: 96mpbs (ping 4ms)
speedtest to Manila: 91mbps (ping 18ms)
speedtest to Los Angeles: 5.04mpbs (ping 196ms)
speedtest to Frankfurt: 1.9mpbs (ping 266ms)

Their national network can be a gazillion gigabits per second, but if the undersea interconnectors are overloaded, it makes no difference - international connectivity will still be sh*t.
