My trailer got repossessed and this is the only place I could find a woman that would let me move in with her.

I'm sorry to re post but it was too late to edit. After my trailer was repossessed I put an add on a dating site that said "Wanted, woman in PH with house that can clean fish and cook. Please send picture of house." and the rest is history.

I'm moving there because this is where my wife and family are, and I'm getting tired of shoveling snow. We may not be in Dumaguete, but we are abx. 4 hours away, and since my cousin lives in Valencia, we visit there at least once a year.

Thought I would add to this thread although I'm currently not in Dumaguete.

My wife and I are looking at two locations to retire to. Dumaguete and Chiang Mai Thailand.
CM was our choice as we both have a circle of friends in CM and been a lot over the years. But it's getting expensive and international school for our Filipino kids is very expensive.

So we started looking at Dumaguete and Valencia in particular. From what I believe Dumaguete has a good expat community, good schooling and a very good uni. The airport is close to the city. My hobby is mountain biking and Valencia has a good biking community. Plus Valencia is elevated so cooler. My wife's family are down south of Cebu so it's a short trip but also not to close. Time will tell I guess.

I like Chiang Mai too but I think if you like cool air, montain biking and education for your filipino kids, Valencia is a good choice. And for Cebu, you have cheap flights every day Dumaguete Cebu, 45 minutes. By bus it takes 6 hours.

Bus and boat is actually faster for us than flying to Cebu and driving down south.

I am looking to chose dumaguete as a base. My costs will be about a third of my pension income, so , my partner and I can put a base there, enjoy some time there with a like minded Filipino friend and work colleague, visit siquijor, bohol, sipalay, and make trips to see other friends in cebu and davao.
Dumaguete seems to have everything but not too big. And I love walking promenades, chilling, having coffee, and Duma has the boulevard.
I'm really looking forward to it all.
