How do I create an account on Dumaguete Info?

You can register a new account on our Sign Up page.

Note: You must be at least 18 years of age and you must be able to answer one of the verification questions correctly. (We've made them pretty dang easy.)

How do I post "Personal Items" in the classifieds section?

Listing "Personal Items" on the forum is free for all DI members. Posting in this section is a little different than posting a normal topic/thread. You will need to create a Showcase Item to list your personal items for sale. This works much the same as creating a new topic:

1. Click on "Create Showcase" located towards the top right of the page. (Ignore the permissions warning at the bottom of the page!)

2. Click "Continue" on the pop-up dialog box. ("Personal Items" should be pre-selected.)

3. Fill out the required information. (Note: The "Item Name" and "Item Information" are the only two required fields. The "Item Description", "Map Location" and "Tags" are OPTIONAL. If you are unsure what to enter here or they are giving you problems just leave these fields empty.)

4. Upload images if available. (Note: The first image you upload will be used as the thumbnail for your listing.)

5. Hit the "Create Item" button when you are ready to submit the item for moderator review.

How can I do a search of the forums ONLY?

You can search the forums by hitting the magnifying glass under the alerts tab at the top right of the page. A "Google search" might appear on the next page but closing the pop-up will show the forum search results.

Note: the Google search only searches the Dumaguete Info website, the first few results you see are advertisements but anything below that will be DI only results.

How can I edit my showcase? I am not finished editing.

Under your showcase page, under the social media share links, you can click the "Edit" link to edit your Showcase ad.

I have a rental property in the Showcase section flagged as "Occupied" but this does not show in forum classifieds?

The Showcase and forum sections of the website have different, and unconnected, prefixes. This is a known bug. If you are unable to change the thread prefix a moderator will need to assist you with the change.

(Note: The rental in question here has already had the forum prefix updated to reflect the Showcase's prefix. No further action is required in this instance.)

What should I do if I have a problem with the post rating feature?

If you received a negative rating you don't think you deserved you can:
  1. Report the message given the disputed negative rating for moderation by clicking the "Report" link under the post.
  2. Contact a staff member through PM with a link to the post/rating in question.
    • Note: You can get the link to the specific post by clicking the number located at the top right of your post.
  3. Politely contact the user that gave you a negative rating through a PM and ask if it was given on accident. There is no limit on how long users have to remove ratings they have given in the past.
    • Note: Most negative ratings that don't seem to fit the post were given on accident. However, be careful with this one and don't start a flame war. If the user seems to be giving negative ratings just to troll or they do not reply to your message you can invite a staff member to the conversation or PM them directly.
If you received a neutral rating you don't agree with you should:
  1. Watch this video.
If you received a positive rating you don't agree with you should:
  1. Please go see a shrink. DI staff is not trained to deal with those kinds of personal issues.
If you can't view or give ratings:
  1. Send an admin a PM and let them know what the issue is and they will try to figure out what's going on or they will explain why the feature is not currently available to you.
  2. Post a thread in this sub-forum explaining the problem.

Can i change my account name?

To change an account/user name you will need to contact the forum administrator (Wrye83).

Can i delete one of my posts from a thread ?

Posts can be deleted within the first 15 minutes of being created. After this time has expired the user will need to contact a moderator or admin and explain why the post should be deleted.

What does the "Your post in the thread Self Defense Classes was moved to..." alert mean?

This alert means that your post has been moved out of an existing thread to a new or existing thread. This can happen if a post is off-topic or deserves its own topic created.

How to delete a thread please

Typically threads cannot deleted after 15 minutes of being created. However, special consideration can be made on a case by case basis.

If you wish to have a thread deleted please send a private message to a moderator or admin explaining why you want the thread deleted.

Users with less than 2 posts must have their posts approved by a moderator. This generally happens within 24 hours but can take longer if a post appears to be a bit created or spam post
