    https://www.cnnphilippines.com/news/2020/7/11/barrier-requirement-back-riding-motorcycles.html

Main points: "Barrier requirement in preparation for return of back riding for all – police task force" By CNN Philippines Staff Published Jul 11, 2020 6:20:25 PM

    1. Barriers were required between couples who live together when back-riding in line of the gradual re-allowing of pillion riding for the general public, the Joint Task Force COVID Shield said on Saturday. Motorcycle-back-riding_CNNPH.jpg

    2. Initially, only (live-in) partners are allowed for the meantime, then relatives, then eventually, everyone will be allowed.
    3. Requiring barriers also serves as a "safety net" for non-qualified individuals who might take advantage of the new policy, adding the shields will still protect them from getting infected with the coronavirus.
    4. The government mandated the installation of shields between motorcycle the back rider and the driver to prevent the spread of COVID-19 .... this will ensure no saliva droplets will hit either while in transit. The Bohol local government's prototype will be adopted for the motorcycle barriers, with leeway for improvisation.
    5. Back-riding married couples shall show IDs or marriage certificates at quarantine control points or to law enforcers, while common-law partners must present documents proving they share a place of residence.

Also lots of details in the articles about fines, loss of license.

I am wondering if similar screens will need to be fixed down the middle of beds.

Looking close at the photo, looks like the shield attaches to the axle bolt of the rear wheel. The nut to the axle is usually tightened to 50 to 60 ft pounds of torque. Will the long leverage of the shield frame overcome and tilt back pushing against the rear rider on hard acceleration? I'll just guess they considered that. Or maybe I'm just missing something. Hard to tell from the photo...maybe there's a support bracket to the bike frame near the axle?

They come up with some utter garbage here and to think some of these people are in the government. God help us.

Where do you get these contraptions from? Notice that the wording says that they will '....allow for some improvisation....'. Haha, that means anything from a dustbin bag upwards will be allowed.

Maybe the garbage @DavyL200 refers to will still be in the dustbin bags @Always a Poppy refers to.

Also, I have read with incredulity of intentions to do their own research on test methods developed in advanced countries - why? They have a better science base here? Just look at school science 'labs' - an ordinary classroom with a plastic bottle for experiments!

Just what will you be using; 1/2" ID PVC or 1&1/4" ID PVC? Just wondering, I might want to try it myself. :hilarious:

And again I think to myself "they MUST be kidding".

Guess someone has a family member that just happens to have a ship full of such barries arriving from China...

Very sorry - I misunderstood units. I mean 1 to 2 CENTIMETRES would be no problem to me.
