There is a lot going on everybody tells me , but trust me. those that live north of Duma between Sibulan and Tanjay know better.
The last two weeks we had "only " 21 !!! Brown Out some of 15 minutes
( not worth to mention , you get used to them) some take hours.
Mind you I should not complane , our house is for the special occassion connected with the "hotwire " of the Municipality and the police and we do not share on sub lines . Thoses are even worst.Corrosion caused by the salt air is reason enough to rewire the whole lot , but they rather wait and wait untill the next pole give a big "bang" and shortcircuit. We have the had yesterday "only " THREE Brown outs and today BEFORE 10 AM already an other three.. The day is still young !!

Earl, it has nothing to do with north of Dumaguete. It's the same in South direction, the electric supply is a desaster with a voltage of 185 instead of 220, what makes the counter run faster and the bill higher...
    cheers

Power Supply and the brown outs

Hi guys , and special hello to Rhoody Der Rudy....

Yep voltage is off. sometimes high voltage so we have to replace the bulbs and even some appliances simply refuse to do their work any longer.. 185 V ?? Boy that is something !! we had somebody over from the City Hall and were shocked with an 242 v !!!!
Guess you are right Rhoody.. We paid last month 2.700 peso MORE then over the other months..
Same story with our neighbors .....
Is NORECO buying their new stuff with our money ???

any expensive appliances need a voltage regulator
I bounght one from lee plaza for 2 thousand
saves my tv and PS3 from blowing up
I thought the electric was geothermal so thus should be power cut free
    and cheap???????

Ask The Dane, he can tell you stotis about power and internet supply. and even with al buyable protectors the Majung Tubig power f*cked up some of their equipment, it is in another Thread here, I will look for it and put a link here. One of the big probs is not the brownout itself, when the power comes back its most of the time a small "woosh" of some milliseconds, then BO again and than on.... This power"woosh"(sorry no Idea about the real english word for that) can kill everything
I would be happy with 240 Volts, all my guitar ams would be happy with that.

    cheers

Woosh . sound good ! But also resembles when you flush your toilet.. Atlkeast mine does. hahaha.
Anyway . I agree on this totaly with you. I even thought going back to Luzon ,but not Manila.
Reason I am here is not only for lovely Negros but for two projects as you will know.
Power supply is not one of them hahaha
The world bank has just invested an other US $ 6.8 Million in the Geo term plant in Valencia.. we will see...
Anyway , we will have to live with it.. it seems.....

This is incredibly discouraging for people like me considering Dumaguete as a place to live. The electronic equipment, and I have many, would not survive. And I would be irritated as hell.

Sorry for the bad news Gomez, but I guess it's better that we bring up stuff like that.
If you have a look at the starting page on the right side is a News column. There is also something written abut it. There are plenty of things here what could and should be improved, but at the end I love to live here and it is my very own decission, nobody was forcing me to live in Dumaguete, and I saw plenty of nice places in the philippines the last 7 Years... this area here has something special... and even this special is the airport, that you can disappear fast:D

    cheers
