What was the outcome of this?

I have had several guys ask me the last couple of weeks up here and I have not heard anything myself - so please update us on what happened with the police dude who thinks its ok to shoot people because they are bigger than him.

You're right mate, exactly! Too bad so many other "Nirvana" seeking, tree hugging, dirt eating druids, don't realise exactly what you have found out, the hard way. The only way to get by here, in my opinion, is stay out of trouble, don't p*ss locals off and if they do "come at you", then "fight fire, with fire". Lower class males in this society and they are a majority, only respect one thing, "balls", if you don't have 'em, you ain't gonna survive, so you'd better "b*gger" off back to your own country and let us "survivors", live here, respected.

I like to update everyone on the outcome of this case, but currently we have not been to trail, and there is no outcome. The shooter is now claiming it to be an accidental shooting, and the assistance prosecutor is only filing for personal injury instead of personal injury and attempt murder or homicide. So we had to file for an extension due to and appeal waiting to return from Cebu to upgrade the charges to include attempt murder or homicide. The process is slow, but I am not in any hurry to go anywhere and I have time. So far this has cost me over two thousand dollars and it will cost me more when I turn around and sue the security company and NORECO for negligence. But what is important for me, is that this person get off the streets and get some help with his mental state, and that the security procedures at NORECO will increase where you can feel comfortable in going there to pay your bills without someone shooting you.

But I promise that once the case is completed, I will let everyone here know the outcome. I thank everyone for their concerns, and I pray that you all have a wonderful holiday season. God bless.

Thank you for the update Rev.

Things work very slow here, especially anything that has to do with courts...

I hope the witnesses at the scene 'remembers' the incident properly...

I applaud your efforts, it is certainly needed.

Just what do you have against Druids? some of my Ancestors were Druid! I know they were supposed to levitate stones and that sort of thing but I don't think they were pacifists.:p

    edit:
just a bump to keep this issue the Rev is facing near the top. It sounds like he is an honorable man and while taking the high road may not always get the desired result it is still the right thing to do.

It is disgusting to hear how guns are freely used in this small city. What are the authorities doing to stop this coward's way of ending small altercations? I think there is something wrong with how possession of firearms is being handled in this city. It seems like everyone is free to have one and use it at the slightest drop of a remark. Can't government do something about this gun-toting and gun-flashing lilliputians? We are civilized and we still have the law of the land to follow. Why is everybody acting like the law is in their hands? Severe punishment should go to those who use the gun in public places where lives of civilians are in danger.

    Regretable but...

I have been in the court system trying to get a justice settled. I have come to one conclusion there is no justice in the Philippines. Not for the Filipino or the Expat there are only lawyers getting rich and police afraid to leave there office after dark. I have well connected friends in the Philippines But even with there help there was only some much they could do. One was a judge another was a police chief. I had my case pushed though to the point of having warrants issued. Which took a year and a half. For that year I had to deal with death threats my dog being poisoned you name it. Funny the day the warrants were issued everyone just vanished there was no one to serve four years later they are still around but they just vanish when the police show up. So what did doing the right thing prove?

Dumaguete is supposed to be more civilized then the rest of the province so yes they need to prove this and make an example of this retired officer who would shoot his firearm in public to save his own face. Obiviously this cowardly assistant prosecuter has been scared off or he is really corrupt and needs to be investigated. Reverend if possible please tell us who he is and if you must to protect privacy you can pm it to me, me and asawa ko want to make sure he is not related to us because if he is he is certainly going to get an earful from us as he rightly should for being so blatenty gutless. He should not let a former official or even higher official push him around. This is exactly why I tell my wife you cannot change the Philippines by running away, you have to stay involved and keep voting. You only achieve your goals through persistance, but maybe I am the only one who believes that.

    Maybe we should be

a little more pragmatic he is a retired police officer without any doubt he has connections after a lifetime working in the Police department. There is only one way to deal with this but I really couldn’t see the reverend turning to that. I feel well versed in how things work and they all ready sound like they are going south for the reverend’s case. But when he goes before for the lord there well be a judgement that he can't avoid we at least have that.

During this long process in court we know the Reverend is paying for his own lawyer who is footing the Bill for the low life ex-cop that would shoot an unarmed man straddling a bike with no way too defend himself. Follow the money paying for the retired cop LAWYER. If this ex-cop was cool enough too shoot someone even pulled the trigger a second time..thank god it misfired. With no doubt this was attempted MURDER in the public with people watching...He feels he is above the LAW. He could very well be above the law. That still remains to be seen. It looks like he's one of those filipino's (GUN FOR HIRE). I have read about many shootings of foreigners there in the Philippines. It is all about the money. Kinda like what they call a FIXER there in the Philippines. Hope no one minds my 2 cents worth. I will be there in a couple of weeks to deal with a problem myself.
