I wouldnt worry about it if I were you. Seems to me you are getting your knickers in a twist over something that probably wont happen.

I see it as a big positive if quarantine is going from unsupervised to supervised. We don't know for sure (of course) but it may help you and I (or any family member) stay alive a bit longer! It will certainly help the country get its economic footing back sooner.

But as to a general view of when is it time to leave - it has to be the time you wake up unhappy at another day spent somewhere and think you will be happier in your home country or, through research, another country. I have researched this already but currently feel happier and safer here in the Philippines in this pandemic (as long as I look after my own health security) - but I do know that there are many countries which would give more respect to their 'aliens', acknowledge the contribution (financial and otherwise) they bring, treat them a little more equal to citizens (wow! maybe even give them citizenship!) and not think that highlighting them as a cause of most problems to be a positive.

I can't read the original official posting, but I assume they have a list of those already sent for home quarantine and would start there. Then they have 'hotspots' (in Manila and Cebu especially) - so concentrate on the hotspots. If the process for any future quarantine is no longer at home, then they have started to crack it!

well according to philstar today, the palace is backpedaling on this control issue however proceeding with plans. they indicate that "barangay health workers" would be he ones making initial contact with the police in a "support role". so, i guess visit your local barangay, ask for whomever is in charge of the health workers, take your virology credentials, and a gift

Thanks for the clarification - I will inform 'my friend' and tell him to forget the camera.

lol, worried? not worried. concerned? yup, enough to keep track of what is going on. i will rate you a zero to one on the scale of worried/concerned. if that is not ok just tell me how you see yourself. you may consider me a five to six. i have always had a bug out bag here (meaning i can catch the next flight night or day without having to stop anywhere else first) excepting issues with emmigration clearance. (yeah i know they call it immigration clearance but thats backwards right?) my thinking sir philpots is to keep my fellow expats up to date on recent events in case they are not watching, as i am often helped by their disclosures here that work to my edification.

To be fair to @Philpots, I regard him as a member who takes this pandemic as seriously as it should be taken plus makes useful and relevant comments.

He knows, as well as I do, that some of it is wasted on those who care not to listen - but no one should worry too much about those who do not care, only about those who do, even be that just one person.

i would be a lot more concerned if we were living in a "hotspot" true. but these things have a way of spreading!! on the way to red rock springs this morning above valencia we were stopped by four little old filipinas wearing masks and manning a card table up in the mountains. after a brief interlude my partner asked if we could proceed. one of them nodded and we moved on. house to house in manila to the east, road barricades in barangay something to the west. we are surrounded!!

They sure can spread - and days before we become aware of it - thus the reason to function on the basis that the virus might be where you are at any time. If people wear a face mask, eye glasses and good hygiene when OUT but stay in their homes as much as possible and control what comes into that home, then they, as individuals are protected to a high extent. Backed by government measures, including guarded quarantine, we can be safe wherever we are. We need not FEAR Covid-19 but respect it.
