A great motorsport's day in Dumaguete

Those are great pictures...Thanks for posting them... post all of them, people never get tired of seeing themselves. You may want to sell (or get a few hours afternoon complimentary stay) for the pictures with the Go Hotel in the background. I tried to take some photos of bikes getting air...boy did they get a lot of air in my photos......all air in my photos, but few motorcycles in the photo, just photos of the bare sky..HAHAHAHA.... YOU DO A MUCH BETTER JOB OF CATCHING THE BIKES.... I really do not worry about taking photos of the exciting events in Dumaguete anymore because you seem to do such a good job of covering the Big Events.....

The Motorcross event really was a great event, and some of the best racing I have seen locally. The street racers on the highways do not impress me. It was fun to see the many classes and levels of racing that was demonstrated. All the racers seemed to enjoy themselves and gave it their best. As you said there were many spectators, but dust control was not evident, until mother nature tossed some water late in the day. A water truck (if they have them here) would have been a great addition for next year.

I am finishing up the day watching the Brazilian Gran Prix... Great and exciting day in motorsports.

@ Dave: THe sky in the morning hours had such a great color, so even your skypictures must be awesome. Then Sunday afternoon with the stormclouds in the back but the track stil in the sun made some great contrast and a kind of dramatic effect

@ Greg: This trail is supposed to be for the next 3 years with a second one build behind it soon (I believe for off-road). There are supposed to be 2 more events the next few month plus some off-road stuff. The land is owned by the race sponsor's family Sy Limkaichong which have a pro-team (Kopiko)

@KdF: for the jumps and some field action I used a EOS 450d w/ a sigma 18-200mm lens. (both bought from a local DI members here on the classifieds).

Believe me, I have no clue about photography and that pro-talk bores my to death since I made the sound at a photo-convention years back in Germany.

When I make pictures I think about what I want to see, that's why I went to the other side of the track, where the sun gets the driver side so I don't have just a dark shadow (one Shadow on DI is enough). Then I was thinking they move fast and I just made 1/1000 shutter time .There are more settings, but I don't know what they do, so I never touched them and all have english technical terms I don't understand and looking at the pictures, they must be pretty unimportant for my use :-) .

For getting them focused, I imagined where they would be ahead of time, estimated a spot on a bump which may have the same distance to the spot the driver will be in the air. I focused on that, pointed into the air and clicked when someone jumped... so basically point and click. I admit to be very positive surprised by the outcome.

However, ALL backstage-shots, pictures of the Kids (also when riding) and pictures from the starts are from Rechel with 2 different point and shoot cameras. One a Sony Ericson 14.1 megapixel CyperShot DSC-W 360 and most taken with a 8 year old 6 Megapixel Sony CyperShot DSC-W30 . That thingy is held together by duct-tape but makes extremely crisp shots of moving objects with great colors.

The shots here are all quality reduced, to keep the loading time here of the thread on a OK level.
