Alert Level 4 in Negros oriental is extended 1st Nov to 14th Nov.

Added to the current list (which included Davao Occidental) are Aurora and Bacolod City. [Negros is doing well!].

I have some interesting information from first-hand accounts of how positives are dealt with in the Dumaguete area and in Misamis Occidental which might in part explain why one place is Level 4 and one is Level 2. I will post that soon when I have checked a few more facts.

Still haven't noticed any change from when they first declared level 4. Business as usual. Seems the people are finished dealing with this nonsense.

So all this 10% stuff and "vaccinated only" is not being implemented? I know that the Governor appealed on October 20th against the first level 4 alert but obviously had no luck.

It really is time to open the economy in full but enhance compliance with personal protection. If people like me who are unvaccinated get the disease then we have no-one to blame - but the economy cannot continue to be crushed.

The authorities need to play their part as well. I know of two families affected by a positive PCR test, one in the Dumaguete area and one in Mindanao. Hearing direct from both, this appears to be the procedure:

Duma area: Person failed antigen test at point of departure, taken home by ambulance (an indicator they considered him a risk) but left in the home with the family for about 5 days! Then he had to go by his own transport (so the travel risk now ignored) to have a PCR test. The PCR was positive (took 2 days to get result) so after two days taken to isolation. Given a choice of free isolation (where everyone shares the same facilities) or to pay. Family at home given no instructions and allowed to roam freely. So lots of opportunity over many days for the infected person to spread the virus (to family and on journey to get PCR) and for the family then to spread it further. Also, no contact tracing as far as I am aware.

Mindanao: Person failed PCR test (done prior to the intention to travel) - result given the same day in person at the family home by local health worker. Detailed instructions given to family (masks, positive person in separate room) and the positive was taken to isolation the next day (into a purpose built facility of separate 'holiday-type' units at no cost). The remaining family all quarantined in their home (and food provided) - a big red sign outside the home, a drone flew over the house, police roadblock to the house, locals advised of the situation and told to stay away, recent contacts traced and also quarantined. So, very little opportunity for the infected to spread the virus and NIL opportunity for the family to do so. Recent contacts traced to reduce the spread.

Only one of those procedures was high standard and one was extremely poor. We know which one was very poor and we know the Alert Level in that area.

My idea. Open economy now, wear a mask (no facial shields) when feasible (Shopping, schools, airplanes, theaters, around crowds) but not bars or restaurants or gyms. If too nervous stay home and wait 4 years and see what happens.
