Message is loud & clear, cancel your account @BPI and open a new account in any of the other banks which are more customer friendly than BPI. I have China Bank, I love the bank and their staff. They also issued a new chip based atm card, that did not need endless waiting to get it, and also no problems @all no matter which ATM I am using to get cash.

After I got my new card, already had a chip card, I had a similar problem with POS. The machines in the stores weren't quite ready. BPI lists every account on one card and I think it confused the machines. One machine accepted the card but replied PIN incorrect. Another replied invalid card. Reported it to the Bank, and I have not had a problem since. Will stay with BPI as they also allow me 20000P at one transaction with my US Atm that reimburses me for their charges.

I wouldn't think we are lemmings but just trying to find a major bank with backing to trust. So Lots of banks seem so small and we feel they may be risky or problematic. Further as I remember from a number of years ago when I opened my first BPI account after I got pissed at BDO for something and had shopped around many banks didn't like giving foreigners accounts or made the process overly annoying. I remember PNB and Metrobank when I asked and they either said they couldn't accomadate me or the process was very annoying. BPI was no problem at all as long as had your passport.

Another thing I'll mention. For major banks most of they really don't like or really want us unless your have millions if not billions of peso's. Most of us there is no profit for them besides the little fee's because we just have monthly living money in there and maybe a little extra for a rainy day. I've seen these big banks treat us average people like dirt so many times. I doubt its no different here then in any western country as well.

That is why we stay with our American CREDIT UNION where members own shares in the bank and who make profit based on regular people. The best banking anywhere. Not sure about Philippine credit unions though.

That explains it. When I opened an account at Maybank a couple of years back I asked why so many people bank at the crowded banks and great banks like Maybank have no line ups and great service. My account manager said "Many people do not have the choice"

Seemed rather cryptic at the time but it makes sense in light of your statement. I have previously stated I am not wealthy, but I was at one time and I retained the ability to know how to "appear" wealthy. Banks like that.

Queue times aren't a problem, you can make appointment online, they give you 30 mins window, when booking the appointment you will get a E number , have used it couple times, no problem, most I waited was about 15 mins..........

Things haven't changed with us, still the same...hypertmart the new cards work, Lee plaza No Robinsons No
I received a reply to an email from BPI saying it is the pos machines not updated.. (Imagine that, Filipinos putting the blame elsewhere) They also informed me the new cards are not ready to be used online...

Well it won't be short lines for much longer if you keep going around telling everyone about it.

RCBC only requires one photo ID and P500 to open an account. Any other required documents (mainly for Americans) they provide. Took me 15 minutes from walking in the door to open an account with them. The small branch across from Hotel Essentia usually has nobody in there.

That's who I was thinking of going with but been lazy to change. Plus also I'd like to build up a record in a joint account with the fiancee to help better in the future if we try and aim for a loan to buy a lot. BDO seems to have the bigger loan percent but never can really trust such things.
