    cable boxes

Was in the office today and they are already using the cable boxes there, so they have received SOME, at least!! As a matter of fact, I noticed the boxes last month when I was in there paying my bill, so, it is looking promising that they DO have the boxes!! Hubby says they are definitely running the new lines down the main road leading to our addition, so, hopefully it won't be too long, but am not going to hold my breath!! They told me we will receive a notification when they will be needing access to our tv, etc...Not sure if anyone is interested, but this is FYI if anyone is considering cable providers, I know when I was looking any and all info was greatly appreciated!! The cable fees here are ridiculously cheap compared to what we were paying in the states, we are LOVING it!!

The Basic subscription will be 410 php/mo (looks like it includes around 75 channels)

Premium subscription will be 610 php/mo (gives you an additional 14 channels)

HD and Ala Carte channels will be ?? They left that blank for some reason on my bring home list, and I am not sure what channels will be offered, I did see a list hanging in the office, but couldn't bring it home.

Each additional tv will be 70 php/mo

Digital set top box 1000 php (one time fee) (current subscribers receive 1 free box)

    FREE INSTALLATION

This is such good news! Sky doesn't have this, right? And I was so worried, too, that Sky would come up with this first and I would be green with envy, because my folks would never switch!

I just returned from Dumaguete, where I saw the ‘new’ Filproducts digital boxes. This kind of model has been outdated for over 25 years in most countries, no advance programming, no multi-lingual, etc. It seems Filproducts bought a discarded lot, which could not be used anywhere else, with an ukay-ukay 90% discount.

If you pay fil products for the whole year you pay 12 x 288 = 3,456 pesos.
For digital television, transmission must pass trough glasfibercable and that may take a few years to replace the whole (copper) cable network.

    cable boxes

I thought the same thing, but had to remind myself that we ARE in a 3rd world country where they still use antique typewriters in many businesses, glass thermometers at the doctors' office, and corded telephones.......need I say more?

    Satisfaction

I agree!! They have a great price and very good customer service. We are happy with the channel line-up (although there are still a few I would like to see added, eventually) We have really had no complaints so far!!

Fil Products switched us to digital the other day. I went to their office to update our subscription and an hour later, someone came over to install the set-top box.

The set-top box looks... vintage. It certainly does look like a decades-old technology. It works pretty much the same, but I think the analog signal was actually better. Sometimes the service cuts off for a second and displays "no signal". I saw this happen during one night only though. What annoys me is that I now have to use another remote (the remote for the box) to change channels. It is the third remote I need on top of my tv and home theater system remotes. It is quite ugly, and every time I switch channels, there's this information box that displays across the entire bottom half of my tv. Like I said, it is annoying.

When I went to their office, they didn't ask me what service I wanted, and I assumed they'd give me the premium package. It turned out they only gave me the basic package, so I now have to go back and ask them to activate the premium because it has PPV and all the good channels. So make sure to explicitly tell them what kind of package you want to avoid this hassle.

I will probably get used to this service, but to sum it up, I would have to say I am pretty annoyed with their service right now (sorry for using that word again). We have a new LCD tv, but their box has managed to turn my tv viewing experience into something seemingly... vintage. A good PPV service will probably redeem Fil Products in my eyes, but I have to wait until I get the time to squeeze in a visit to their office. By the way they do not have the HD service yet and if you have an extension tv, you will not be able to make that work unless you rent another box for a one-time fee of 1,000 pesos.

So that's my experience with digital Fil Products... and I'm looking forward to hearing about yours.
