Hi everybody, I'm vanes and i planned to come there for my Christmas vacation. I will land in Duma next friday. However i saw the horrible effects of the storm, so i'm a little scared it will be not confortable for my beaches & sea holidays in Apo, Duma, Siquijor, Sipalay... So i kindly ask to you there if it's okl or if it's better i lose the money of my internal flight to go somewhere else... (by the way where? Boracay??)
Hello vanes73 Here we have again nice sunny weather, only along the rivers we had the most problems. Beach & see is all again normal. Enjoy your vaccation here, greetings camote
... If you dont look at the 300 kids in Candau-ay Elementary school - schelter who seem to be forgotten by our local authorities, yes all is fine. They had at 7pm their fist dish of the day. Two - 2peso bread founded by DI members .... And tomorrow they get even some cloths again from us ....
Yes, everything here is wonderful. That is, it's wonderful as long as you don't want to see all that isn't. Sendong has left, and it graciously left behind an appalling tragedy that isn't being properly addressed. Hundreds homeless, kids starving and almost naked, bodies being pulled from the river and collapsed buildings, parents who have lost children, children who have lost parents, confusion, despair, loss, hunger. Take a trip to Batinguel, Candau-ay, Valencia, Palinpinnon, etc. and see tragedy in action. But if you don't look then you can pretend that it isn't there, and if you keep your eyes closed then maybe, just maybe, it might go away all by itself. Yes, everything here is fine and dandy. Enjoy your vacation.
Well I can't say that's much of a surprise really. What do you honestly expect from the people in charge in this province, who have never done a full, honest days work ever in their lives? IMHO, they tend to do the absolute job minimum to avoid the public scrutiny, jumping up and down shouting the loudest, usually diverting local/national attention for their glaring inadequacies onto the other lazy, greedy idiots who equally deserve the blame.
If the situation in Batinguel and other areas is as bad as you say it is then it would be worth getting some publicity over it. There is a lot of money both govt and international being donated to victims. Obviously post pics here but also send reports to local and national press . ABS - CBN here in Duma is usually willing to broadcast stuff on their nightly local bulletin. Perhaps this might shame the local govt into action.
If vanes73 dont come for her vaccation to Dumaguete it dont help anybody; either this Famillys how losed everything. Some Beachresort may layoff employees for cancelled reservations; famillys have no more income!? Broadside if you want to help to it....... I myself help together with the Rotary Club of Dumaguete.
The problem is it takes years to get that money released, and somehow by the time it does get released the amount somehow has shrunk. The last I read (about 6 months ago) the victims of the last major flooding in Dumaguete 4-5 years ago are still waiting for their "help". Their money was appropriated years ago, but it takes detours along the way. Larry
