Hi wileiz, do not get me wrong......I admire and appreciate the willingness, adaptability and hard work that Pinoys put into it, the problem is that because they sometimes do not want to turn down your request, either through their good heart or financial gain, they fail to maintain the standard expected. This leads to arguments and a negative experience by both parts.
I remember employing a builder whom was recommended by a neighbour.
He did not have a clue and I ended up doing most of the work myself. :(

Union Jack, why the question ?
Could it be you are planning a retirement, therefore require a list of advisers ?
I understand the need to have reliable advice, especially if your moving somewhere you are not familiar with. But like in the UK, my way would be check the work done previously before employing anybody. But advice should always come free. regards JB

I too can take a computer or just about anything apart and put it back together. My only problem is what to do with those pesky parts that are left over. hehe

Yes, I agree the idea of giving advice or help to the skill that you're good at.In my case, I graduated at Silliman U the degree in electrical engineering worked in Dumaguete for two years before immigrating to Canada in 1981.Since May 1985 up to now(last 24 years) working as Stationary Power Engineer( 4th Class Inter-provincial Power Engineer license in British Columbia, Canada)at the largest Public School System in BC.Also doing a part-time job on my spare time as Residential Electrical Contractor ( Class "C" Electrician in BC.) in Vancouver.

I wanted to be a comic, but ended up being an unpaid smartass, in between that I provided some substance abuse counseling, but from what I've read hear, many of you guys are already fairly knowledgeable in how to do that. Prior to that I was a maintenance person (power generation), but in the last few years I went back to being an unpaid smartass, and soon to be one who shares a few beers with some of you heathens.

Well, I'm good with communications, computers, cell phones. I know a little programming, a little about repairing, and a lot about the different softwares available and what they can do for you. For example, I can set up your cell phone to call any place in the world for just 7p a minute. I can do things like that.

    Hi union Jack

I think it is a good to pool our resources, as far as helping our a fellow expat, as we all know how we get shafted here in PI, I myself am an auto mechanic (not diesel) but own a Toyota diesel now the fun starts, owned & run a service station / mechanical workshop for 9 years owned and run an Auto electrical shop for 5 years but my auto elec skills were low, mostly had employees. so come on guy’s hand it over.
