If it would be a adult board I could say it in a different more honest way, but Thailand (Pattaya, Phuket, Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza) are including their employees totally expired AND overpriced. Amazing that there is a Russian TV channel now in Pattaya (produced in Thailand). The value for money is dramatically down for certain things...
Yabster, you have the Danes invitation, if you go there on the 5th instead of Duma, we may meet up for a few cold ones in AC.
Anyway, did you recognize your new Member status ???
Jelly, I need to do it in that black and white way, as a.) some poster would not react - b.) some others not even understand and c.) some postes give me really good laugh and I need that in my sad sad life...

Jelly, you are confusing some readers... what should they think about your last line... Me varifying the satisfation-factor of your sweetheart... But yes indeed, all the asawas of DI members I met are just wonderful persons...

hi there,RHB. you got me again. that was the point i wanted to relay ...i just can't avoid if some people may misunderstood my posts as sarcasm. everything here is just all in text, and people tend to make-up their own impression on everything they've read. so i can't do anything about that. i meant well to everything i said...and it's up to somebody to take it as . i came to this forum w/ good intentions and have respects to all members, and if that was misunderstood...well...? :(

A survey was done in Austria a few years back, and it was about the rate of succsess for couples with age difference.

They intervjued 10 000 couples and did find out that in order for it to be a possible long life relationship there would be a certain calculation to be done to find this recepie.

The oldest person`s age divided with 2 and added 7 = If your partner is within that range there is good chance of a long life relationship.

    For me that means:

    Age:45/2=22.5+7=29.5 years old

So if I want a long life relationship, my girl should not be younger then 29.5 years!

I personally would look for a woman that is also intelligent and have some kind of higher education...and she may also have kids. Maybe a teacher or proffessor from one of the univercities. I need mental challenge, not some bimbo teenager!

Right, THAT is when I start look for a long time relationship:D

First I would live free for a while and just play around a little bit, check the local flavor as to speak.:p And who knos, maybe that suits me the best.

And yesterday I spoke to a lawyer friend of mine who just married a filipina north of Manilla. He had spoken to a Judge and a lawyer in his wife`s local comunity and he ask`d them if he could own land in the PI.
Their responce was YES, It can be arranged.

And I think what they do then, is that they sell you land but it is in another persons name, but the other person can not sell it without your signature while you can sell it without his/hers signature and you dont pay that local anything but a small fee the first year. And the sale will be in your name so the money goes to you and not the fictive land owner.

Lawyers are cheap down there, a thousand dollars or so to pay of the people making that valid papers.

No way I will have property in someone elses name without having such an agreement, even if I am married.
How ever if I am married and after many years I see that it is not a woman lokking for a milking cow then I will make a will that says that she is to have this and that if I die. (Natural courses)

    Paalo,
I would be very careful in dealing with anybody who tells you that a foreigner can buy land in the Phillipines. The Philippines does not allow foreigner to own land, and entering into a convoluted arrangement with a filipino is a recipe for disaster. If you need unbiased facts on property, visit philippine_real_estate : Philippine Real Estate and speak to Dave Williams

Daffs, it is still not your land it is the land of that person, you can make contracts about the money, value rights of sale and and and. The land will always be in the locals name. It will never be yours !

A extreme example: It costs not even 5,000 Peso and nobody will ever find you again and the person who's name is on the paper is a happy guy/girl.

A DI member (not active anymore as not in the PI after what happened) had a good contract like you described.
When he went back to Europe for some month his partner found some lawyers who found ways to verify that he died in Europe. She sold the land and was off to the province again. When he came back he was surprised to meet the new owner on the land. There is no way that he can get the land back. The only thing he can do is fight for his money with his "partner".

yeah, fighting with a local and the whole family in the province about money which is not existing anymore seems like a good plan to spend your life...

I know this are two extreme examples and most Expats and foreigners are totally happy with their "land" and they found a woman to love and trust.

If you found that woman and consider buying land for her a few things you should keep in mind:

buy the land far away from her province if you don't want the whole family with you. She will always be closer to the family than to you and the influence of them is so high that strange things can happen if you don't play their game.

If she tells you "a friend/cousin/uncle" or "I know somebody who "is a lawyer and can handle the papers... hands off !!!

As a private Foreigner you have NO chance to own a single square meter in the PI (it is different when you are born here but have a Norwegian passport, but i don't think that is the case)

    cheers

    Rhoody

Paalao, you got some good advises here.
Like Daffs said, do better research otherwise you will go the same way as many of us foreigners have gone.
Enough real stories to tell about this subject.
I'm one of such a guy Rhoody is referrring to and can't deny his remarks.
To "own" land (on her name, haha) I had to trust my love. I did and still do.
But.....you can make a lease contract for 50 years that it makes very difficult for her to sell the land, even when you died (if you have put a proper constraint in the lease contract).
    But good luck.
