We're planning a trip to Dumaguete and Siquijor.
we have booked these flights since October and here
are the itineraries that i think are feasible
based from what I've read on the forums.

Please do suggest what other places we should go to or should sit out,
considering the time constraints. We are more leaning to do
sight seeing tours than snorkeling. I think we will
do our snorkeling when we get to Siquijor.
We just cant decide if we'll stay 2 days at Siquijor
or 2 days at Dumaguete. Pls help! Our schedule is so tight! I think this is gonna be crazy
because we always need to get up early.

I really want to go on a dolphin watching tour.
Im afraid if we get there late, we might
not get even a glimpse of them.
Is the season over for dolphin watching in February?

We also have problem here because one of our friends
will be arriving late in the afternoon
that is why we can't go outside dumaguete on our first day,
it just seems unfair for him to leave him out. There are 6 of us.

    Here it is:

    **********1st option*********

    First day

    5J 625 l MANILA-DUMAGUETE l Friday, Feb 6, 2009 l
    Arrive at 0825H
-Whole day city tour in dumaguete only
-1730 Catch last ferry to siquijor
    *OVERNIGHT IN SIQUIJOR

    Second day
    -Whole day tour in siquijor
    *OVERNIGHT IN SIQUIJOR

    Third day

    -0615 Leave Larena port
arrive around 0700 at Sibulan port
-0700ish Go to Bais for dolphin watching and sandbar
-1600 end of bais tour, go back to hotel in Dumaguete
    *OVERNIGHT IN DUMAGUETE
    -free time in the evening

    Fourth Day
    Leave for Manila

    ********2nd Option************

    First day
    5J 625 l MANILA-DUMAGUETE l Friday, Feb 6, 2009 l
    Arrive at 0825H
-Whole day city tour in dumaguete only
    *OVERNIGHT IN DUMAGUETE

    Second day
-0600 Go to Bais for dolphin watching and sandbar
    -1600 end of bais tour,
-1730 Catch the last ferry to Larena
    *OVERNIGHT IN SIQUIJOR

    Third day
-0800 Whole day tour in siquijor
    -1630 Take ferry to Dumaguete
    *OVERNIGHT IN DUMAGUETE

    Fourth Day
    Leave for Manila

I'd appreciate any advise you can give me here.
    Thanks so much!

It kind of looks like six of one or half a dozen of another. I'd say that you have a winner either way. You should enjoy yourselves.

Unless someone suggests some changes based on the technical aspects of transportation and connections between modes, I'd say that you have a delightful dilemna ahead of you to choose between your itineraries.

Please let us know what your experiences were!

yes you're a right, the modes of transportation will definitely play a big role in making this trip do-able. i hope i can get some tips from the members. i'm actually leaning to choose option 1 where we get to stay in siquijor for 2 days.

i will be posting the details when we get back! cheers!

Are you sure there is a ferry Larena Sibulan which needs only 45 minutes?
You might be a bit late for Dolphin Watchin when you are at 7 in Sibulan.

I made the Dolphin trip a few times and we tried to be in Bais by latest 7, better 6:30.

The last ferry to Siquijor would be at 6:00 pm, Montenegro. Its very slow(2hours) but you can make sure you arrive Siquijor alive. For given reasons a try to avoid Delta as good as I can...

    dumaguete port and sibulan port?

Thanks rhoody for the reply. i was gonna ask, is sibulan port and dumaguete city port, one and the same? i seem to be a bit confused about those two. we will be arriving from larena to dumaguete city port. anyway, if we arrive at dumaguete city port at 0700 i guess that would be late. because it would mean that we would be at bais around 0800 right? should we sit out the dolphin watching thing and head out to somewhere else then? *sighs*:(

what's wrong with delta? we plan to take delta's last ferry which is at 530pm. there are now 8 of us who will be traveling.

They are two entirely separate and different places. The Dumaguete Airport (DGT) is on the northern outskirts of the City of Dumaguete. SIBULAN port is several km north of that in a municipality of the same name.

Dumaguete's port, from whence the ferries to Siquijor operate, is closer to downtown Dumaguete, several km south of the airport.

If you subscribe to Google Earth, the spatial relationship amongst the various points mentioned is easily displayed.

    larena or siquijor port?

yes thanks davfits for getting that all straightened out. let me just edit my previous post then. now my next question is,
do delta fast ferries (from DGT port)dock at larena port or siquijor port?

... if they are not canceled or break down in the middle of the ocean.

don't go on a delta if it's rough or you have any other options. They rather sink a boat than cancel a trip cause of bad weather, even ALL other ferries stay in the ports cause it's too dangerous.

...anyway it is a bit choppy at the moment, you might want to consider something different than dolphin watching as with this surface condition it's hard for the spotters and also a bit early in the year. I made the best trips in August..

whew WOULDNT wanna risk that. thanks for the info rhoody. but you said montenegro ferries take 2 hours to get there? we're a little pressed for time here but maybe there are other ferries available? delta would definitely be the last option.

ill look into other stuff to do than the dolphin watching.
