Hi all, Looking for a bit of advice here either for hire or purchase. I have a deep water well that could use a clean. The difficulty is that the well is sitting on what seems to be large deposits of manganese and iron. During cleaning today it was a job and half with a 15hp compressor to unblock the shaft and the well itself. Our contractor mentioned an industrial sized compressor would do the trick. As the manganese seems pretty heavy it would seem that I need to clean the well every 4 months or so. This might suggest a purchase. Anyone know of a reliable dealer or someone to cart one over to Siquijor for hire? Specs and tech comments most welcome...as I say, I do brains, not wells! Cheers, C
Your problem is not entirely clear A 15 hp air compressor sounds pretty big. You said the problem is silting.(?) If the plan is to stir up the sediment there are other ways. Could you get a fitting to the pipe that would allow you to force water down a tube to the bottom of the well and stir up the sediment and pump the turbid water out? If the problem is chemical deposits then maybe someone with a chemistry background can suggest a chemical to dissolve the offending deposits.
Oooops typo, that might have been a 1.5hp compressor. Apologies. I think basically the problem is silting/mud, so pumping out the turbid water might be the best solution. The chemical deposit issue is a bit thornier. The contractor said he knew of a manganese mine in our parts some 30 years ago. He's a Lolo who knows the parts pretty well and I trust him. He's always done us good service. He was hopping up and down saying he had never such manganese rich silt/mud and was suggesting starting a strip mine lol. I've no wish to go down that road, even if manganese is $2.30 per kilo (I looked up today). So, armed with new knowledge, stainless steel pipes in future to guard against corrosion, and the need for an industrial compressor to 'clean' the well every 4-5 months any suggestions as to who might have one for rent/one for sale? Thanks for getting back to me. Cheers, C
It's roughly the price of a kilo and a half of fish clever clogs and to some that's a fortune. It had my neighbours 8 year old using his fingers to count, looking starry eyed at all the Jolibee meals he could buy on his next run to Dumaguete if he gathered a couple of kilos per day. Child labour notwithstanding. God help me. If the kids Unionise I'll be ruined. Now, anyone have any ideas about where to find an Industrial Compressor? C
Did you check Lazada? They seem to have several compressors available, also industrial ones. air compressor hp - Buy air compressor hp at Best Price in the Philippines | www.lazada.com.ph
I bought a small compressor at Rejoice a couple of years ago. Their prices were fairly good and they do have some fairly large compressors (up to around 5 Hp if my memory serves me correct). Uy Matiao also has compressors which I thought were a little expensive for what they were.
All of this made me curious, so I decided to do some Googling, makes me wonder WHAT is living inside of our Well here which is around 15 years old and still pumping via the original Hand Pump fitted when it was built back in '92!
