Hello everyone, I was wondering if there were any regularly-held events or gatherings for expats living in and around the Dumaguete area, such as barbecues, summer parties, Christmas parties, etc. I’m sure some expats have already become fast friends and get together regularly at either the Boulevard or at McDonald’s. But I was talking about gatherings that were more formally organized… Thanks for any info you may have…

Personally one of the reasons I am here instead of the U.S. is to get away from "organizers". Have you thought about getting involved with the Filipino community ? There are tons of things to do here if one wants to and looks around. Have a fantastic day.
Who in their right mind would compare Chiang Mai, with a population of 1.5+ million, and 1.5 to 2 million foreign tourists per year, with Dumaguete? Nevermind, asked and answered. Larry
Shadow, nobody compared the two. There is no comparison, obviously. I gave an example, that if that's the sort of things the original poster was looking for, it's not here. But, would a once a week coffee club or a game of bridge be beyond the capabilities of Dumaguete?
Ever tried Why Not, Casablanca or Coco Amigo's, from 11am onwards on a Friday morning/afternoon, ending up at the Blue Monkey Grill by 6-7pm? Lots of expats/info there every week. If you don't fancy drinking alcohol, try the coffee with free refills and tons of 'useful' advice, at the 'American Embassy' in MacDonald's, Perdices' street, from 6am onwards every day.
Have you folks thought about that dreaded word "exercise"? Try the running/walking track (Olympic size) behind the LTO / Governors office/ Sports complex. Many nice people there just for walking in the a.m., I suppose in the p.m. also. Not crowded though. Opens at 4:00 a.m. if you are a super early riser. Folks come there to walk before going to work or college it appears, or just us old retiree's enjoying the "view". Entry fee only P10. There is also an olympic size lap pool and diving pool I think that might be P20. Lockers available. More there at times. Check it out. We go about 5:00-6:00 a.m.. Nice way to start or finish the day if you don't have anything against being healthy. Check with your doctor or bartender before starting any exercise program. :o
Beer at P28/bottle, snacks at reasonable prices, music at less than eardrum shattering volumes, reasonable view of the harbour, open air, staff are a bit slow tho.
