Rick's laptop keeps powering down within minutes of turning it on -- he is hearing six beeps before it shuts down. Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help!

Had a similar type of problem with my Lenovo laptop last year, finally died. Turns out the battery went dead with no replacement in town. Ended up buying a lesser brand replacement, dead Lenovo gathering dust in the closet. Hope that is not Rick's problem.

Please follow this link below. It might help explain the reason why your laptop acts this way.

If any of the other suggestions do not help, there is a laptop repair shop in Robinsons, that you may or may not be aware of.

It is either overheating and/or the power supply is on it's way out.

I had a Neo and constant issues. #1 issue was overheating even when it was in an aircon'd room. Got a laptop cooler to help with that. But also had an issue arise after a number of months with the memory and had to replace the memory stick on it as well (plus added more memory ontop of that).

I've also heard they have battery issues as well though but thats unlikely in your case.

Best bet use it as a paperweight and get a branded laptop.

Ok this is a long shot but has worked for me on several laptops in the past

Remove the battery and hold the power button on for 15 seconds then replace bat and restart

This trick was showed to me by a laptop expert said he loved it when they came in and he could charge 60 bucks to do it
