Most Dgte shops before only rented if you were using their boat. I asked at the SCUBA shop down by Happy Fred's and the girls had no clue. Guess the owner is a new dad.

no serious Diveshop would give equipment for take out. It is simply a liability issue. I know a DS who did that and a dive accident happened. the diver was never found. The insurance never paid (not the DS one and not the life insurance of the missing diver). The divers buddy said after that the inflator was not working. Some diveshop are still doing it but you have to deposit the price of the equipment before you take it out.

Odd reply. But I have limited experience with renting, in the US anyway.

My instructor's shop in the US readily rents equipment for anywhere someone wants to take it. He was as big a PIA as you'll find during class. I'd imagine his renting policies would have been as strict as possible.

For that matter the inflator on a new BC could malfunction, potentially leaving the shop in the same position.
