I am posting this as a warning about a problem that I had with a China Bank ATM in front of Hypermart. I made a transaction for P10,000 on May 25, 2016, did everything correctly, you know enter PIN, transaction amount and so forth, waited and nothing. Finally it returned my ATM card but no cash and no receipt. No indication on the screen as to my transaction. The screen went back to the info, insert cart blah blah blah. So, i moved over to another machine and made a transaction. No problem. I then went on home after a couple of stops. Like I normally do, i went straight to my computer to check my bank account. to my surprise the China Bank extracted the cash from my savings account/ I immediately went to the local branch and filed a complaint. I tried to stay cool and i think i did ok under the circumstances but who knows how these pinoys feel about us at times. They told me it would be investigated and I would receive the money back into my account within 4 weeks. 4 WEEKS? I asked. Anyway i patiently waited until the 4 weeks passed and no deposit in my account. i went to the bank and asked what the problem was. The man there said that it had been turned over to another bank for investigation and give it another 2 weeks. I was really irate and said a few choice words but went back home and sulked like a little kid. i went back 2 weeks later and asked again and the guy said OK here i a number to call. a Manila number by all means. So i went and tried to call and no luck on the number. So i did a search and found the problem desk. We emailed back and forth for 2 days and finally i got the correct number to call. I called and had to redo the complaint over the phone but at least this time they gave me a reference number to give them if I had any more problems. After 2 more weeks finally I had my money returned. 2 months total. I was really at my wits end. i sent emails to anyone that I could get in touch with at both banks and told them how I felt. The only answers I could get is "Sorry Sir, we know how you feel" Bullcrap I know this is long winded but I needed to let everyone know this problem that I had. thanks for reading.

What happened to you, did also happen to me 3 times so far. Sometimes the ATM produces a receipt with what ever message. All those three times the amount of money erroneously taken from my account was transferred back in no longer than a week. Waiting 2 months is indeed unacceptable. My preference has to take cash from an ATM during banking hours if possible. In the event something goes wrong you can react right and immediately on the spot specially when your card is not coming back, which happened to me also 2 times.

That probably works fine if you do your banking here and have an account with a local bank but in my case it went through a special process since it was an international card. Also it was 10 a.m. when I did this transaction. One thing i really want to know is why an ATM would deduct from my bank account if I didn't receive any cash. i have used my card in several countries and if the machine doesn't give you any cash it will explain why (out of cash, out of order) and not charge your account. just another thing here that is behind the rest of the world because they don't want to spend the money to modernize. Will never change in my life time.

Correct, it was my local PH account it happened. But even when you are using a foreign ATM card such a problem should been solved within 2 weeks. I also cannot explain why that amount is being deducted from the bank account in question without receiving the cash.
All those many years I am using a bank card to get cash from an ATM I did never encounter problems in any country in Europe.
In the PH it happened, as already said, 3 times and in Thailand only one time. The latter was solved within 2 weeks.
Some banks are modernizing the banking system here in the PH. For instance, my current bank card with a magnetic strip will be replaced by a card with a chip.

If you use an ATM in a bank lobby, you have a leg up on the complaints process. I avoid using ATM in the Philippines except to check my bank balance on a whim but I have multiple cards and if the machine eats one, I wouldn't be in trouble anyway. I consider ATM in the Philippines to be like slot machines, money might come out...or then again, it might not.:o o:

Taking your consideration and the outcome of my frequent visits to an ATM in the PH since 2007 (1 or 2 times a week or more) with respect to not getting cash or card eating by the machine I would be glad to visit any casino in the PH under same condition for a guaranteed pay out on each bet he he....More fun in the PH, isn't ??!!

Sure thing, it's your own money and with fees it's always less than you put in. Good luck with that winning plan.
