Monday, September 1, 2014 MANILA -- Four people were arrested Monday after they were allegedly caught in the act assembling explosive devices inside a parked car at the compound of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) intercepted at the airport's parking lot B a white Toyota Revo sports utility vehicle (license plate WMK 129) loaded with improvised explosive devices. It said that aside from the explosive devices, other materials such as gasoline and several suspicious kinds of powders supposedly used in bomb making were also found inside the vehicle. Authorities said NBI received a tip a month ago regarding a plot to bomb the airport. They were also informed of the presence of some suspicious-looking individuals at the airport vicinity last Sunday evening. The NBI said the supposed plot is targeting the airport and the posh mall, which houses a casino, in front of it. The airport management immediately placed NAIA terminal 3 under full alert. General Vicente Guerzon, senior assistant general manager of MIAA, immediately called the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-ASG), Office for Transportation Security (OTS), and local PNP from Pasay and Parañaque cities. The arrested suspects were placed under NBI's custody. 4 people arrested as NBI foils bomb attack at Manila airport | Sun.Star
