Cash remittances from overseas Filipinos coursed through banks increased in January, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco said Monday. Cash remittance rose 0.5 percent from last year to $1.8 billion in January. The bulk of cash remittances came from the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Canada.
