A sad loss to our community. That said, where is the gentleman in the statistics of our local health unit? I keep up with multiple sources, and have seen nothing of a foreigner succumbing to the covid.

He could have had his cause of death listed as something else. One can die with Covid, not necessarily from it. That is what was and probably still is so wrong about all of the death reporting on this. It was easy and expedient for people just to chalk it up to Covid.

Somewhat the contrary, I think. The Irish Times is a newspaper of record. Where did it get the diagnosis? Possibly from the death certificate by way of the consulate. Yet it would not add to covid death statistics unless there was a positive test result. My concern is there's a lot more disease around than we know from the limited testing.

Very troubling. I think when this has finally subsided we may find one or two others have disappeared as well. Hope not. The problem is that us oldies who are hanging on to our perch can easily get knocked off by this and have little say in the shown cause. My lungs are good from xray and scans but I do get very breathless quickly and the Corona if it hits me will I think most certainly see me found feet-up in the cage.

I just lost my mother, 88, to covid in a residence for people with dementia. They called it pneumonia, but staff tested positive for covid....so sad.
