I'll be bringing in a computer with me from the US as a gift for my Dumaguete family. Any words of wisdom on getting through customs? Will I be questioned about it upon departure?

Keep it in your carryon or checked baggage (if that is still allowed), act like it is yours. If its carry on it will be xrayed at every passenger check in but no one ever questioned me about mine. When I was returning home I left it my with my sister in law, a gift from me to her.

Almost everyone carries a Laptop and no one gives them a second thought. At security they may ask you to take it out of your brief case/carry on. Customs doesn't seem to care.

I would worry more about U.S. customs (going back into the U.S. than Philippines customs.) I brought my computer as a carryon and after all the flights and xrays my pr0n still works.
