⌛ Budget for Living in Dumaguete

Hi there, it's been so long since I posted, but I see that this wonderful forum is still going strong! Maayo!!! Good to see ...

I have a question that I couldn't find answered in any other post when I searched before ...

Here;s my situation ...

I am moving to Bayawan city in November, which is quite close to Dumaguete, I know that most of you live in and around dumaguete, so here is my question ...

what would you say is a reasonable budget per month living in Dumaguete???

Bayawan to Duma is quite a trip. A reasonable budget is hard to tell. some can live for $600 quite good others are not able to do that with $2000

Since your moving to Bayawan in November, I assume that you already know your monthly budget there in Bayawan. So I approximate that your Budget here in Dumaguete with be just slightly higher than what you have there in Bayawan. Maybe 10% more.

 

I was thinking $650-$700 (USD) per month ... would that be reasonable do you think??

Rhoody, i guess you're right - 101km could make a world of difference - different cities, different prices! I would imagine it would be cheaper to live in Bayawan.

Here an example how you might split some costs, it is a bit older, you can easiely transfer the numbers to Dumaguete now...

with 650 you can life, but it is more a very basic life.

I cannot live there for $ 650 dubble that i think that can have a good but simple live over there.

I get by quite comfortably on around $350 a month. It wouldn't be hard to get by on less, but it'd be less fun. I have all the basics: cable, DSL, 2BR apartment, motorcycle, etc. And I eat out for most of my meals.

 

It depends entirely on your lifestyle. Some Westerners arrive thinking they can have the same lifestyle as they had in their home country for less money. It rarely works that way. If you want to party all the time you may find yourself running out of funds quickly as well. If you adopt the Pinoy lifestyle you can live very well. Here's some numbers I've been using, excluding rent.

so your total expenditure would be 22,690 + rent?
