Seems the dump has caught on fire. No pictures on social media just yet but I can see the smoke from my place. Hope it doesn't spread and do damage to the locals properties living nearby.
I agree! Someone should tell a Filipino, and they will tell a Filipino, and they will tell a Filipino and so on........... and they should all take a Selfie with the flames, share it to Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Instagram, 24 relatives via texting, and then """"CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT""" -of coarse after a 30 minute snooze 1st.
It looks like this dump site will e burning for years. I guess they figured out how to get rid of the mountain of trash they piled up next to the river. Do what every other Pinoy does, Burn It. Valencia is almost intolerable with the smoke. They sure know how to pollute the air here.
I'm ok with burning trash if that is the only/best way available to get rid of it. I would like it to be done in a planned and controlled manner though. There are landfills in the US that have caught fire. If you pile enough trash eventually something will come together that generates heat, then fire and then everything that burns is going to catch. It's just a matter of time. I never visited this dump so I know little about it. Were people making a livelihood from it? Possibly even living there? If so those people have it really bad now.
