Information: My wife's nephew had his appendix removed and a week in Provincial Hospital. Cost was 25,000p plus prescriptions purchased outside.
Not a bad price, all considering. I wonder how much it would be at Silliman? I'm glad it was caught in time and the procedure turned out well. Thanks for contributing to the local economy!
Thanks Greg. They first brought the boy to Holy Child emergency and when the in-laws found out surgery was required my very astute wife told them to transfer the boy to the provincial hospital. Boy came home today and is in good shape, thank God. I will send him back to his mother in Manila next week.
When I was eight, my parents took me to Los Angeles county general (closest hospital) because I had appendicitis, the doctor was pushing on it and swearing that that could not be what was wrong with me because I wasn't screaming, then there was a loud pop, all the color drained from his face, he spun around and grabbed the first nurse he saw and screamed at her that he needed an operating room now! Then they found out that they couldn't drug me out. Finally the anesthesiologist said "wheel him in and I will put him under". I woke twice during the operation. Long nasty convalescence after. Compared to that, a veterinary clinic would look good. It sounds like Holy Child did a good diagnosis and the provincial hospital did a good job with the surgery.
