A customer from China just claim their government has cancelled all flights to the Philippines and hence want to cancel a booking.
Has anyone heard anything about this? The reservation is in November, so it is not typhoon related if it's true.
I can't find any info on any news sites.

That was in June, so I don't think it's related.
He just claimed "The government of my country just cancelled all the flights to Philippines"
Could be a way to get away without cancellation fees, but sounds fishy.

The second link is current PAL flights to and from China.

Here is every flight in the sky right now.

It would be massive news if China had canceled all flights to a country. That's only something they would do prior to starting a war or if a terrorist plan had been discovered....that also would be all over the news. Sounds like an excuse to me.

At least the next flight from Bejing to Manila is cancelled. But, that could of course be of the weather.
Could be a misunderstanding from the customers side too, that they overreacted on the cancellations issued, and thought the storm will last for 2 weeks (just saw I was wrong in first post. Wasn't November but first week of October).

Truly a political statement. Hope there is no military actions planned.

WOW! talk about a dog Fight.

Don't know about that, but the Comments under the story, leave a lot to be desired. Glad the Story and Comments are not a Thread on DI

Seems many, just do not, like the Chinese. Looks like it will escalate though.

Of course it only says a Travel Avoidance to the PI not a Canceling of Flights, That I think, would have repercussions, all round the World.

MANILA -- China warned its citizens on Friday not to travel to the Philippines after a Chinese teenager who worked in a family-run store was kidnapped.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also said it was worried because of plots confirmed by the police in the Philippines that criminal groups planned to attack the Chinese embassy, Chinese companies and public venues such as malls.

"Given that the safety situation in the Philippines is deteriorating, the consular service of the foreign ministry is asking Chinese nationals not to travel to the Philippines for the time being," the warning read.

These are just travel warnings not a straight out ban on all flights as the OPs customer had stated.
