The following ranking I found on internet, being the result of an inquiry amongst more then 2000 expatriate business men.
    0=low corruption 10= high corruption

    Source: INQUIRER.net, Agence France-Presse 03/09/2010

The 16 countries surveyed from the least corrupt to the most corrupt are:

    1. Singapore, 1.42
    2. Australia, 2.28
    3. Hong Kong, 2.67
    4. United States, 3.42
    5. Japan, 3.49
    6. Macau, 4.96
    7. South Korea, 5.98
    8. Taiwan, 6.28
    9. Malaysia, 6.47
    10. China, 6.52

Only 8.06 for the PI? Should be 10 if not more!

I guess you haven't been to Vietnam.
Having been to Vietnam three times and one of those trips was for a year. I would have though that Vietnam would have taken first place.

No, I haven't, Jim. Perhaps Vietnam is beaten by the PI by now.

I find it amazing that the USA didn't make the list. I believe that the cop in this country are just as corrupt as they come, bar none!

I guess you missed it. The U.S. is #4 on that list.

Yes, maybe Vietnam has improved over the years....but I distinctly remember ARVN officers (Officers - not enlisted 'soldiers' - you know, the ones that can never stay awake) trying to sell me: A. Drugs B. Weapons C. Girls.......got hits on C....but what a mob of tossers they were.

Anyway, my limited experience with Philippine officers has been considerably better and none ever offered anything beyond a cold beer. Usually good people and reasonably professional in their duties.

I have been to vietnam last year 2006 till 2008. Vietnam is so progressive. I am not aware of the corruption there because i was working in the construction.

Teach....the survey I gave was referring to the countries around the Pacific Ocean, so not the WHOLE world.
But I'm surprised to see now that so many countries can beat the Philippines :D
