I don't know which way to go on this one. I can see the benefit of having a section for crowd-funding, investment opportunities and charity projects.....but the downside of these posts are very obvious as well.

I don't want anyone to get taken for a ride by a con-artist or have anyone blame DI for an investment/donation that went bad for them (I'm not worried about any legal problems that come from allowing these types of posts). But I also think if people have a genuinely good idea for a business/charity project (preferably one that will benefit Negros Oriental/Dumaguete) then they should have a place on the forum to share that and ask for support from people that share an interest in making Dumaguete a better place to live for everyone.

I'm not leaning one way or another on the issue so I'll leave it up to a poll and let the members decide if they want to see this stuff or not on the forum.

I think the only rules that I would place on such a section would be:
    1. Crowd-funding, investment or charity projects MUST benefit Negros Oriental or surrounding provinces.
    2. Absolutely no posts for donations/investments for things that aim to participate, support or interfere with Philippine/local politics.
    3. Dumaguete Info is not affiliated with, does not support and does not guarantee anything promoted or promised in any threads created in such a section.

I don't think these types of threads would be that common. I think I've only seen a handful of these types of posts since I have bee running the forum. If it were OK'd by DI members at first and then got out of hand the new forum could be reconsidered.

    So....up to you diba.

based from my previous experienced in crowd funding, its really hard to implement here in philippines, to start i had a startup previously that gives anyone a platform for their crowd funding (like kickstarter but local), however as we go deeper on our business model, we encouter a problem that its hard to work around, "most" people in PH still not keen in giving their money for something that they are not sure off, probably some but not everyone... and there is also most people would often ask who holds the money while the campaign is ongoing... and how to prevent bogus campaign... some of the many things we encounter, but im still hopefull that someday people in PH will understand how this thing works...

lol "most" won't give a centavo unless they are going to make some money off of it. Personally, I think crowd-funding is just a bad idea in the Philippines, if you publicly announce a good business plan that sh*t is going to get jacked and a local will have taken that idea and opened shop before you even have time to refresh the page to see if you have gotten your first donation.

its already public and i mean "really" public since the idea we pitched it infront VC and covered by international media couple years ago in manila... so far one group tried with the same idea but failed or atleast it almost failed and afaik they stop accepting campaign for now... so we tweak our idea recently...

but im still hopefull once my place in tanjay city is setup (cant live with the inlaws foreever  ) dumaguete will be my base of operation...

Well I guess by publicly announcing it you can learn what not to do from all the unoriginal pricks who steal the idea and then screw it up.

Btw, if you don't vote on the poll or make a post stating your opinion I will interpret that as saying it doesn't really matter and you'll be ok with whatever decision is made from the users that did speak up.

Don't be silent here and then complain later about crowd-funding/charity being allowed on the forum. It will fall on deaf ears.

I'd leave it for Facebook and friends to share a persons funding project. I once did a campaign and and that's the way to go IMO. Forums tend to work out poorly ,particularly
attractive for one time posters! Either way, it would not deter in too many ways if a thread was created!
