The lawyer of the suspected mastermind of the daytime robbery of a pawnshop in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, last year, was killed in an ambush in Dalaguete town, Cebu province, at about 2 p.m. yesterday.
Lawyer Noel Archival and his escort, Candido Meñoza, were killed, and two other companions were seriously injured when the Toyota HiLux vehicle they were riding was peppered with bullets by still unidentified men in Barangay Coro, Dalaguete town, police reports said.
Archival was returning to Cebu from Dumaguete after a hearing yesterday morning where he represented Jesuslou Elcarte Alegria in the robbery-in-band case before the Regional Trial Court Branch 38 in Dumaguete.
Alegria, 42, of Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, had been arrested after he and several other companions, who are still at large, allegedly robbed the Agencia Belen Pawnshop in downtown Dumaguete, and took about P5 million in jewelry on August 24, 2013. The stolen items were recovered that same day but all the other perpetrators managed to escape.
RTC Branch 38 Presiding Judge Cenon Repollo said the court proceeding against Alegria was the first of a series. The continuation of the hearing was scheduled for today, but it was cancelled since Archival had another court appearance in Camiguin, he added.
Supt. James Goforth, chief of police of Dumaguete City, said Archival had been to Dumaguete several times to represent Alegria and, before him, suspected big-time drug pusher Mark Lorenz Solon, who was arrested in December.
For unknown reasons, Solon, who is on the police’s watch list of drug personalities, had reportedly terminated the services of Archival, Goforth said.
Solon, 38, of Aldecoa Road in Laguna, Barangay Looc, Dumaguete, and son of a prominent businessman, and Adams Guivelondo Cuevas, 50, of Brgy Batinguel in Dumaguete, were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Camanjac, also in the city, on Dec. 16, 2013.
Around 30 grams of suspected shabu, a hand grenade, an improvised tooter, a pair of scissors, marked money, the black Hilux Vigo 3.0 driven by Cuevas, and the Mitsubishi Monterro SUV of Solon were seized from them, police records show.
Alegria and Solon are detained at the Dumaguete City Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Brgy. Bajumpandan.
Goforth said he believes that the ambush-slay of the lawyer is related to his job, considering that he is handling high profile cases.
The victim is the brother of Cebu City Councilor Nestor Archival.*JFP

What do you mean by mechanic? Likely is gang related and I'm sure it has to do with one of his current or formal clients.

In some cultures the "politically correct" term for hit man is "mechanic".

Good to see you back!

Careful, that might be considered libel. I'd take a bet that guy wouldn't be the type to take such a thing to court though...... or would he? (It's not libel if it's a question lol)
