Well most UK Expats will know about the back-log for operations here in UK. Here's the situation with Dentists, one of my fillings fell out last week so good enough I was given an appointment for today quite quickly great. The dentist took a look and said he could put a temporary filling in and to make an appointment to come back for a permanent filling. The receptionist lovely looking girl said there is a waiting list, oh ok says I. When is the earliest appointment? 10th of May was the reply!!! It would appear that there is a shortage of Dentists and some practices are no longer accepting NHS patients. In other words private patients only at the mercy of the dentist's pricing. Previously the NHS had set a standard charge for treatment which Dentists adhere to. My advice to your son or daughter would be, dont become a Doctor, become a Dentist. Better hours, no weekends and better pay! Just getting the shock off my chest ( just my two cents ) JB
Many of the dentists here have very long waits as well. I chipped a tooth a couple months ago and some of the more recommended dentists had a 2 or more month wait time.
