    One of the principal conundra confronting a new resident of Dumaguete is determining both the start of and the duration of the rainy season. It appears as if the dryness of the city is perpetual. It is probably its location in the rainshadow of Mount Talinis which renders the locale so parched and arid. Oh for the relief of a shower!

    This effects one's photographs as well. The shimmering reflection off the parched streets produces confusing mirages. One even imagines that the surface is wet. This becomes especially disorientating during the hours of darkness.

    My meaning is illustrated below.

    It's interesting how everyone seems anxious to huddle in the tricycles or overhangs to avoid the dryness.

    Pssst, Timn8ter, did you notice how the clothes of the people in the last photo have water marks on them? Maybe the pediwedi passed through a water fountain:eek:

    Yes I did. I think the only dryness here is the humor.

    Dry humor is better than believing that the wet is dry...
