Funny blog about Dumaguete. I think maybe it is censored by either wordpress or .ph government?

You will need to access with tor and https duckduckgo.com search engine and hit escape soon as the page loads as it redirects to a blank page-a form of censorship.

Dumaguete_NOBS or alternatively search words DUMAGUETE NOBS or Da Truth About Dating Sites

I had to use Tor Browser as it's being filtered out by regular DNS lookups and search engines. Use duckduckgo.com

 hehe read out the first blog to the wife here (Low and Hi Class Filipinas) and she said the Blogger is very judgemental! And I have to agree in part, just most of the relatives who visit here are from the mountains and while they might be lacking teeth, they sure are packing morals and common courtesy, I would rather mix company with them than some of the seedy shifty looking characters I see in the City each month who claim to be educated.

His second Post (Da Truth About Dating Sites) again sounds like it is reeking of bitterness in that life did not hand him what he was looking for. Sure anyone with half a brain will know that Dating sites are out there more so for flings or fleecing you for one reason or another, that just seems to be human nature, but again; it sounds like he has learnt a lesson and is trying to warn others against doing the same thing. Problem is as humans we are pretty arrogant at times and need to learn our own lessons by being burnt. Just think about when we try to warn a newbie... It appears he is chewing on Bitter Melon while he typed that one. lol

I guess from the sounds of the Blogger (after reading the first post) he is a dirty scruffy old expat with issues who scrapes the bottom of the barrel (aka; water finds its own level here) when it comes to looking for women to prey upon to serve his ego. Just my thoughts... lol

Okay I am off to read a few more of his rants unless he begins to bore me (hopefully I will remain amused with his rhetoric lol) with what I suspect is simply bitter posting due to his poor life choices/experiences... *snorrrk*

BTW: I managed to open using Mozilla Firefox without a hitch (via PLDT - via Fil-Products) and have experienced no redirection whatsoever, so maybe the filter problem you have is to do with your provider? (OR Big Brother is watching YOU!  LOL)

    @Wrye83 ROFLMAO!!! :laugh:

Are you sure you did not write this slap stick comedy mate? This guy is a crack up!! hehe

    Philippine internet forums

Run by corrupt individuals who spread false information, censor anything that interferes
with their primary objective of making profits for themselves.

They exist to stroke their own egos and generate advertising profits for themselves.
You will not get unbiased information from these sites generally speaking. Often occupied
by sycophants who pay fees so they can flame others who do not pay fees without risking
retaliation as retaliators will be deleted unless they pay the website “membership” fees.

Advice: Do not contribute by posting to these sites. Just take any truthful, useful info (sometimes difficult to filter) and leave it at that. No sense promoting corruption and violators of free speech.

No but I have certainly been accused of exactly what's written (and much worse on forums that have absolutely no moderation, such as "Topix".). Some people confuse free speech with diarrhea of the mouth...and even more people confuse online forum owners with their legislative branch.

    US First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The government can't force you to STFU in most cases...website/forum and business owners most certainly can say what type of speech is allowed on their private property. However, I don't think the guy is referring to this forum - but I believe I know which one(s) he is - as there are no "fees" on this forum for anything but posting in the classifieds section.

Whoever wrote that is obviously a former forum member who is butt-hurt that his sh*t-posting was moderated and his user account banned. I know the type. These retards are an unavoidable part of running a forum.

Either the Gov. or wordpress is going to great lengths to censor this blog. The url generates a cookie and you will have to clear your cookies if you're not fast enough at hitting the escape key to stop the redirect to the censored blank page. The Ph. government is starting to act like China, cf. all the articles on this by googling.

I think the guy is spot on about a number of things he says although maybe a bit exaggerated.

WordPress isn't doing anything to the blog. The Philippines only openly admits to blocking certain porn websites. However, I have noticed there are certain non-porno websites/forums that are impossible to access in the Philippines unless I turn on my VPN. (FYI: VPNs are technically illegal in the Philippine....though they have absolutely no way of enforcing that law.)

It might be worth noting that the trouble accessing the website could be due to other things:
    • An individual ISP might ban a site without the government telling them to.
    • The server the blog is hosted on might be blocking your IP address due to spammers on the same IP as you.
    • The blog's host might region block the entire country because of spammers. (It is difficult for most people in India and Pakistan to visit DI.)
    • He is not paying for hosting. He has free WP hosting. He is only allowed so much bandwidth per day/month. If he goes over that it is shut down or throttled to a useless speed.
    • The blog is complete sh*t when it comes to its design. If your internet is slow your browser might not be loading it properly.

Cookies have nothing to do with your ability to view that site. The cookies being used on that site are from Google for tracking and advertising placement.

I haven't actually read anything on the blog. Just looking at the blog makes my eyes bleed.

Edit: I just read some of his drivel:
Another miserable lady part that isn't happy unless he has something to be miserable about. That's quote is as far as I got. No interest in anything else he has to say.

Just as a matter of interest I had a look at this Blog, it opened ok for me and well what a load of Rubbish I thought, having said that, I can see what is meant although badly put in places, I see they are all over 1 year old. I have read stuff like this before so nothing new there for me, the Bit about Expat forums is I think, as Dustin said, Sour Grapes. Nothing to see for me, so I will be moving on.png

As I said I had no problems opening the Blog, no pop-ups, no cookie problems, no redirecting etc. I would suggest you do a scan for malware on your device.

Turns out that wordpress requires javascript to load opening pages. My program has an addon that filters possibly malicious javascripts which was blocking the load. Most webages will give a message saying javascript required, but this page does not. This occurred on two different browsers, so it's a javascript must be enabled to load type of thing. Interestingly internet explorer was the only browser that loaded the page without problems.

It's a known fact that certain ISPs here censor websites. I have had this happen on several sites, but it's not frequent. If you google it you will find the names of ISPs that are doing this here, they use DNS filters in the main. The government here, I believe, through ISPs is becoming increasingly intrusive into data transfers of internet users here.

I've talked to several foreigners here who hold similar views to this blogger, although he, as I said before is exaggerating. BTW, the anonymous setting for posting does not really make you anonymous as anyone with sys privileges knows what account was used to post any post. I only post anonymously because I don't want to bother fielding flames.

“I am a dictator? Yes it is true. If you don’t like it then don’t vote for me,” - Rodrigo Duterte

Nobody should be surprised by this censorship.

The anonymous feature is clearly explained in the forum rules, that nobody actually reads, when users sign up and also a thread (appropriately titled) posted when the feature was added to the forum.
