Cebu - The minimum fare for an E-Jeepney (Electronic Jeepney) to be used in the streets of Lapu-Lapu City before the end of the year was set at $ 6.50. - Deputy Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board - Central Visayas (LTRB-7) chief Reynaldo Elnar said during a test drive on Thursday, the minimum fare for e-jeepneys is 6.50 PHP for the first five kilometers and each another kilometer costs 0.90 PHP. The E-Jeepneys are manufactured by Star 8 Green Technology Corp., located in Las Pinas City, Manila. Leonardo Porton, a Star 8 technician, says that a fully charged battery stores 26 kilowatt-hours, which means it can travel at a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour, between 120 and 150 kilometers. An E-Jeepney can carry 23 passengers, but LTFRB will not allow standing passengers, says Elnar. Each vehicle has WiFi, GPS (Global Positioning System), a charging port for electronic devices, an LED TV for advertising and an Automated Per Collection System (APCS). Porton says a solar panel on the roof of the vehicle provides the power for the electronic devices in the Jeepney, while the E-Jeepney is powered by its battery. According to Elnar, the E-jeepneys drive from the M.L. Quezon Highway in the city center of Lapu-Lapu City, to the municipalities Pajo, Pusok, Ibo, Buaya, Mactan, Maribago, Marigondon, Basak and back. They will also get a route from Lapu-Lapu City city center to Cordova, passing through the boroughs of Basak and Marigondon,
