I read about it in the paper. 50 of the 10-12 passenger trucks will be coming to Negros Island to be distributed between here and Bacolod.
    Price -600,000p.
    Fuel costs 150P a day.
I hope electric trikes will be next.

Another glimmer of hope for the air pollution problem. I hope Malacanang gets behind this in a realistic manner.

It sounds great, especially if its designed right, not tacky.
But 150p a day fuel cost sounds ridiculously low. Even golf carts (which in essense this trucks must be) cost a lot more than 150p a day to charge up, for just couple of passengers and a couple of rounds on the course.
Is is a typo? Perhaps 1,500p per day???

If they turn out to be reliable I'd love to buy a couple and put em' on the Dgte to Valencia route.
That uphill brings out the worse in unmaintained jeep diesels.
To see one of those pot-bellied jeepney clowns shove his foot into it just as he's passing by a group of schoolkids walking along the road makes this expat see red.
Thats criminal disregard for the health of others.

This is good news, maybe somebody with the ethanol or geotherm programs will help supplement the charging stations with low cost electricty.

That would give this island a hell of a head start on the peak oil disaster looming right ahead.

    Marky,
thanks for the info, for a ride in an e-jeepney I would spend some peso more, just to make it worth and help with our air-pollution probs.

    Hoping
