I intened to take my rescue diver in the RP next year. I was told I would need the Emergency First Responder course as part of the curriculum. I decided to try and get that here in Canada before I leave and so I called up the local Red Cross. They told me it was a 40 hour course and cost about 18,000 P. I have since been told by dive shops in DGTE that it is just a one day course with them and they quoted me a price that was just a fraction of the Red Cross course. Can anyone comment on the equivalency of the two courses ? Do I actually get a Red Cross designation at the end of the Philippine course ? How could a one week, 40 hour course here be a one day course there ?
