Hi all, I'm looking for a fast DSL or leased line internet provider for my office in Dumaguete. I really don't care about the price but it has to be fast. Any ideas are welcome. Many thanks

That depends on your area. Maybe ask your neighbors what they are using.

I know Globe has 3mbps and 5 mbps plans available but I believe you need a business license to get them. Without a business license I think the fastest you can get is 2 mbps. Just check with them to see if they can hook you up.

Thanks, I have a business licence but globe only have 3 mbps (which I already have). I'm after something a little faster (5-8 mbps).

This is a stretch, but maybe they are reserving the 5 mbps for internet cafes? Maybe you could tell them you are starting one and ask if they will give you the faster connection.

I seem to remember this is something a friend went through, but maybe that was wrong or they changed it.

Another option is to pair your 3mb with another 3mb it could be from other internet provider and using a dual wan router, speed will add only when downloading on p2p, but you will have a greater bandwidth too and an automatic back up fail over when 1 provider is down.

sort of along these lines....but, here in pampanga if you get over a 2 MB line you are a target of "visits" and they are suspecting cyber sex houses when its in your personal residence. Same in Dumaguete??

I was thinking of load balancing but didn't realize affordable versions were available in a dual wan router. This may be the solution I'm looking for. Many thanks.
