    Hi all

I want to make the fence around our property more secure against burglers, since we are living in an isolated place and unfortunatly we have had several attempts from burglers to enter our property at night already. Other than simply making the fence higher, what are the options available in Dumaguete, and can anyone recommend a company to sell e.g. an alarm system of some kind?

My profound sympathies....I'd give some advice but I'd likely be banned for doing it. I have heard of people in your situation (ie quiet and remote) being cleaned out in less than an hour....and the neighours know nothing of course....but they do appreciate the silverware...Even guarded subdivisions only lower the odds - but you can still get broken into and ripped off...just less often...

Well, I can't refer you to a company. But, these were much bigger issues when I lived in Cebu City...the solutions there mostly involved electrified barbed wire on top of walls, trips for sirens and big dogs. Worked pretty well despite repeated attempts!

Mad dogs are really the only way to go unless you want to welcome those relatives back and make them permanent residents/guests. I actully prefer the relatives, much less messy, know how to cook lechon, and even willing to show me the secret of raising fighting cocks.
